I'm not sure where I'd rank the Colts-Pats game to be honest

I feel like it deserves a top 10 spot but I may just be overrating it as a fan of the team that won

It had a great finish and the storyline of backups stepping up and making plays when it mattered most but other then that I can see why people might not have liked it. Both teams were better in years past [Colts in 05 were MUCH better on paper, Pats in their superbowl seasons also]

The Pats/Giants SB shits on this game. The tuck rule shits on this game. The Pats/Panthrs SB shits on this game. I'm willing to bet heavy money that outside of Colts fans people saw this game and remembered barely anything about it. It wasn't a "great game", it was each team playing like shit for a half.

I find it hard to believe that the biggest game in arguably the biggest rivalry of the decade doesn't hold any weight when taking everything into consideration.

New England going 18-1 is great because of the implications surrounding it, otherwise that game was a complete bore fest.

They haven't met in the playoffs since that game and the only thing that game did was perhaps "turn" the tide a bit....however Indy had already beaten the Pats the last two times they played them in the regular season so the Colts beating the Pats wasn't exactly a shock. Especially since the Colts were at home, the Pats weren't playing that well, and I'm almost positive Indy was favored.

My take is always the same: I like defensive battles when it's two GOOD d's cancelling out decent or good offense but when it's just two terrible o's [Cleveland v Tampa this year] then it is boring.

Indy wasn't the favorite, everyone knows this, maybe under your rock wherever the hell you're from you don't get cable, but being a 3 seed and playing the team that's beat you twice in the last two playoff meetings isn't going to win you supporters, aside from Shannon Sharpe of course.

San Diego's meltdown the week before was obvious, putting it on their kickers is a stretch though, hell, Troy Brown forcing the fumble on the Brady interception was huge for that game. I would be more willing to say New England went to San Diego and just outplayed San Diego, I remember Marty making some ridiculous calls in that game and San Diego paid for it in the end. It was San Diego's game to lose and they lost it. acting like New England didn't "deserve" to be there is irrational and wishful thinking. New England WAS there, Minnesota got fucked on that 4th and 1 but does New Orleans not deserve to go to the SB?

all Rivalries have their pinnacle and you can't place any other game in place for this one. Regular seasons W's hold weight but not that much when compared to playoff games. spread out all the games of this series and the only one that has an argument is the 07 regular season match up purely because of the history of the series and the rematch from the game before this one.

It's hard to flat out say there's been a better rivalry in the last decade in football than this one. and when looking at the games of this rivalry it's hard to find a better one than this one.

Sloppy football is such a stretch here too, I can think of 2 sloppy plays off the top of my head and even then they kind of negate each other when taking them into consideration.

New England came out and straight dominated Indianapolis the first half, Indianapolis came back,dominated the second half and then some considering they had pull off the biggest comeback in AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME HISTORY.

Biggest comeback in Title Game history + rivalry = greatness. not #1 greatness, but it's nuts are hangin low enough that dogs gotta think twice before fuckin with it.

I never said that they didn't deserve to be there you twit. I said Kaeding choking put them in the game. Regardless if Marty made some odd play calls. No one remembers or cares about Marty's play calling if Kaeding hits some very makable FG's.

Two teams playing when they were not at their best is not the "pinnacle". Sadly we will never see the 05 Colts play against the 07 Pat's. The rivalry is ebbing and flowing and doesn't really have any "peak" because the teams never really met when each was at their best. That game may have been a large part in the turning point of the rivalry but it wasn't the peak.

It's hard to flat out say there's been a better rivalry in the last decade in football than this one.
