If you think Guida won the third, then how can you say you think Diego won? If you give Diego a 10-8, and Guida the next two, that's a draw.

Shut up with your figuring out the failed logic of my post. I thought the third could have gone either way. I was fully expecting a draw after the fight, but when they indicated split decision, there was no way Guida could've gotten the win as far as I was concerned.

Some fights are even though and to tough to score, an extra round might work, but some fights are just even and guys shouldnt get win or losses because someone has to get a win

10-8 rounds seem to never be given, Diego should have gotten 1 in the first round, there are 10-8 rounds in place, but never get used, guys are grabbing fences and never get a point taken off besides Tito, lol, there can be 10-10 rounds easily where no one does nothing besides walking around flicking jabs at each other and never landing

For the record I'm not talking about this fight, Diego won it

I wouldnt have problems with 10-10 or 9-9 rounds. I just think judges should have an extra tool and fights shouldnt be going to draws.
At the end of the day more needs to be done to make sure the right guy wins and a super close fight has a chance to come to a natural conclusion.

12) Nate Diaz is a fucking punk. Only thing the dude excels at is getting his ass kicked until his opponent gets tired, then getting a hold of a bullshit submission. Yeah he's tough, but not incredibly skilled.

lol @ this, yeah Nate isnt a skilled fighter, he is a brown belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu, has probably been boxing his whole life, trains with his brother, gil, shields, etc...has been fighting pro since he was 18

when you say 'then getting a hold of a bullshit submission' did you mean to say 'then catching other skilled fighters in highly skilled submission moves'? yeah, because I always see guys fighting after the club catching each other in triangles and shit

anyone who says a 'bullshit submission' probably shouldnt even be watching MMA, what a stupid thing to say

Nate's issues are he doesnt have great takedown defense and isnt that strong, so if you get him down you could probably ride out a win from the top, Nate doesnt even take that much damage in fights dont know he keeps getting his ass kicked like you say

His stand-up is not good. In my opinion one of the reasons he's so skilled in BJJ is because of his build. He's 6 foot fighting at 155, he's lanky as fuck and has long limbs. Every fight I've seen of his shows him on his back most of the fight. I rarely see him taking control in a fight.

Fact is he's beat a bunch of nobodies, and he hasn't had an answer for any good competition he's faced (see: Hermes Franca, Clay Guida, and Joe Stevenson).

Yeah, he's young and he has plenty of time to fill out and improve. But we're not talking about potential, we're talking about how good he is right now. And right now in the UFC, he's at best middle of the pack.

he lost to hermes 3 years ago when he was like 20, Joe and Guida have over 35 fights each, Nate isnt a top LW, but I dont think anyone is saying that, he just is losing because he is getting held down, Guida and now Joe really didnt hurt Nate at all, he isnt out there getting his ass kicked like you said either

also, josh neer and kurt are not nobodies, they are good comp and he beat both of them

UFC gives away three "Fight of the Night" Bonuses for the first time

Diego Sanchez vs. Clay Guida,
Chris Lytle vs. Kevin Burns
Joe Stevenson vs. Nate Diaz were all named the evening's "Fights of the Night" winners for a record three awards and each competitor earned an additional $25,000 for his performance.

With the additional "Fight of the Night" awards, the UFC issued $200,000 in "fight night" bonuses.

The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale, drew a crowd of just over 1,800, which produced a live gate of approximately $500,000.

good move. putting on exciting fights should always be rewarded with a little extra

Every fight of his I've seen in the UFC involves him on his back most of the fight, in a defensive position. I don't know if anyone caught it but Rogan said the same thing himself during the broadcast. Something along the lines of "Nate takes a beating until his opponent tires out then he catches them in a submission." Someone above said they're replaying it; if they are, check it out for yourself.

Pretty sure he didn't say "bullshit submission"....

Losing the way Guida did is better for your career than winning a boring fight. It's an entertainment business. Just ask Stephan Bonner, who almost half a decade later, is still being booked based on not much more than being involved in perhaps the biggest war, and most important fight, in UFC history.

The downside, is guys all want to be in that type of fight, as as a result, alot of great wrestlers/bjj/ground specialists try to stand and bang, and get away from their style. I know he has done it before, but Dana really needs to throw a bone to the ground guys more often and toss a best fight bonus to a technical ground fight.

You coulda said the same thing about his brother Nick a few years ago. Putting on some weight and being more persistent in the standup elevated his game tremendously.

Both those guys are insane off there back and on the ground. Getting out of Joes guillotine the way he did was grade A sub defense.
