Whats happens to Pettis now? I thought he was getting the next title shot, so does he sit out until they do another rematch or do they match him up with someone else?

JDS already complaining he needs to make a living, I'm sure Pettis makes much less than JDS has

Dana said they'll go back and figure out what's up for Pettis, either he waits or he'll get a fight, I'd assume on the same card Edgar/Maynard 3 is on.
 
The promising title shots is biting these promoters in the ass, if you say it, you have to do it

Fights off the top of my head that have backfired and screwed the fighters and promoters

Hendo vs Bisping
Fedor vs Werdum
Babalu vs Lawler (Babalu did it to himself though)
Pettis vs Bendo
Shields vs Kampmann (sort of, because Shields was not impressive)
multiple Fitch fights
 
ya...im picking Edgar next time around. Maynard couldnt get a take down to save his life and was totally unable to use his size and strength advantages by grabbing ahold of Edgar and using some dirty boxing. He destroyed him in the first round, but Edgar came back and won 3 out of 4 after that. Not to mention, more than anyone else in the game, Edgar improves by leaps and bounds from fight to fight
 
I can see why people would pick Edgar the next time, and I would probably would do, but you have to consider Maynard did proably gas himself out a lot with the barrage of punches in the 1st, and still arguably won the 3rd and 5th rounds still. Credit has to be given to both fighters for still going pretty strong into the 5th round. I think Maynard would have better success with takedowns the next time around, when hes not gassed out.

I dont see why Pettis is getting screwed here tho, he should be getting the next shot @ Edgar. I love how Joe was selling it hard after the fight too like "he was supposed to fight the WINNER of this fight, what will they do now?", as if he wasnt told to do that in his ear, lol, so ridiculous. Pettis should be having a unification fight against Edgar, but what daddy Dana says goes, so Pettis will probably end up fighting Jim Miller, losing, and never getting a shot. So ridiculous. Gotta feel bad for the kid. And its not even like he cant sell right now either, who the fuck doesnt know and want to see more of Pettis after that ninja kick?! Ride the hot hand, do the right thing.. let Edgar fight Pettis.
