Exactly! Basically it boiled down to there being a toss-up within the Titans organization on which quarterback to take. Bud Adams wanted Young. Chow wanted Leinart and Fisher wanted Cutler.

What baffles me the most is how these teams make it seem like it's committing professional malpractice to go against the talking heads' draft boards and take a guy that you like who may not be rated as a "top pick" by others. If you see a guy that you think can help your team and can play at this level, take him, regardless of where others have him slotted.

People killed the colts when they took Dwight Freeney at 11, all the talking heads said he was too little to play DL in the NFL and the colts reached way too hard. Yeah that worked out okay for them. They knew he would fit their system and thats all that matters.

seriously tho... i dont think the titans can trade VY or release him cuz of a huge cap hit this year (i am sure someone already said this). His trade value is shit due to him being a girl so the titans may just cut his bitch ass in the end.

Before the draft I was all for Cutler or Young. Leinart was the one guy I didn't want to see them draft and still stand by that. So I didn't really mind the Young pick at the time. False hope that Young would turn into a faster and more elusive version of McNair I guess.

If Young wants to start then he should shut the fuck up and earn it back. There's only one problem though, It's not an open competition. Collins would have to go back to 06 season form for Vince to even have a shot again. Besides that it's not happening unless Fisher wants Collins crying on the bench instead.

Thats what I was hoping for too after the fact they drafted him. I guess they really should've paid a bit more attention to that sweet 6 Vince scored on the Wonderlic. I think my boxer puppy could've got at least an 8.

McNair was actually an extremely good passer in college. People didn't know what to make of him because he played at a smaller school, but had he played at a big school he probably would have been a #1 overall pick. I think he and Mark Brunell were two of the most underrated QBs of our era...tough guys who were smart and mobile. Vince Young couldn't sniff McNair's passing stats in college or pro.

Its possible that we could entice Houston with a 3rd round pick or something along those lines in the 2007 draft. Sure the Jets might make a better offer but that franchise needs its draft picks too. Houston will not be able to solve all their needs in one draft. If they are sensible then they will consider their needs over a longer time horizon. The 2006 draft will not make that team an overnight sensation.

I think its possible that we can develop our roster through free agency as the cap situation eventually begins to calm down. Drafting is not the be all and end all and our team is already young as it is. I think something good can come out of all this for TN.

Definitley the Texans and Jets are the teams to watch draft day. Its the movements of those teams that will cause seismic activity on draft day.

Its not ill conceived that the Texans trade down because they don't need a QB and arguably don't need Reggie Bush either. Offensive line is their priority. Simple.
Reprezent, I live in Nashville and have attended numerous Titans and Commodore games over the last few years. In my opinion, Jay Cutler is the best QB in the draft this year. He's big, has a cannon for an arm, fast (ran a 4.77 40yd), can take a beating (sacked a ton in college), and smart (have to be to get into Vanderbilt). I like him more and more everytime I see or hear anything about him. Living here in Nashville, I get to see more news and stories on him that might not be available elsewhere. Listen to the scouts and draft experts. Notice how Cutler has steadily been climbing up everyone's charts. This kid is going to be a great QB in the NFL. I just hope we don't end up picking Elbow-surgery Leinart or Wonderlic-6 Young.

If the Titans draft Cutler I am lose it and be Pissed off forever. Leinart Is better then Cutler. I prefer Leinart,Young I would even take Mcneal before I take Cutler. To me looks like Croyle throwing was better then Cutler at the combine

because short of Kerry Collins having a season ending injury and Patrick Ramsey completely refusing to look at a playbook VY likely wont play a meaningful down for the titans again.
