I think you guys can review what you want it is your podcast. It looks like it is fun to do. You WONT be able to please all. When you talk about zelda I kind of listen, when you talk about Infamous I am interested. DO all sorts of games and some people will love and some people will hate.

IMO if I was doing a podcast about games I play and shit I would probably take some notes down as I play games. Things to talk about while I am playing that I would forget. Being specific about how you are experiencing the game is interesting to me.

For example, I am playing the Witcher 2 alot and there certain mission that are just really cool and mature. I would right down a 1-2 details about those missions and talk about them. Could get people interested in the game on a deeper level.

anyway....just trying to give some criticism. After starting to listen to some gamer podcasts in the last year I can tell the ones that are meh and the ones that are very funny and interesting. You guys are making an effort and putting yourself out there...most of us are not doing shit.

I don't know how to say this without sounding totally gay, but your accent is awesome. It reminds me of summers when I was younger. My mom's side of the family all live in and around Waldorf/Baltimore and I used to spend every summer up there. I can still remember going to Ocean City as a kid.

I might be but I'm making a general comment mainly because I could give a fuck about the podcast since everytime I've listened to it, it's been shit. Don't give me the bs about if you don't like it then join us because I've offered but was never taken up on it.

But go ahead and go after KG who makes a comment about you guys going on something for too long which is a useful idea because if you do go on about a game that long it is too long.

Don't get so butt hurt about things.

Constructive criticism is always good. It's the only way we can get better. But like Knubb said, how do we know what to talk about if no one asks questions in the threads or comments on topics?

As for inFamous, I think we talked about it for maybe 20 minutes? Not even theat. Considering it's the biggest games to come out that week and will likely be one of teh best games of 2011, I don't think that was over board.

OK I am going to comment on Twigg saying you CANT charge $60 fro Duke Nukem.

Ok....the game will get shitty reviews at $39.99 or $59.99. Most game reviews don't mention the price of the game. If that was the case then almost every arcade game released would get a pass, I mean its only $10...its good for the price?? Gearbox is trying to get as much money possible. They released at full price and will probably sell 500,000 copies.....drop the price in a month or 2 after you gathered all the early adopters money. Much more money earned.

Money is relative and shouldn't be considered on the quality of the game. I just bought Mass Effect for $15 does that make it the better than the $59.99 version.......no it's the same fucking game.

I definitely understand what you are saying. I know Gearbox wants to make money. And they probably will sell a decent amount of copies based on the name alone. But when you do charge full price for a half assed game (not entirely Gearbox's fault obviously) then you are telling your fans that it is a fully realized, fully featured, current gen quality game. I would imagine a lot of people bought the game and are now completely turned off by Gearbox and may never buy another one of their games. Whereas if they would've made it a "budget" title many more people would've known what they were getting into and would've been a lot more forgiving.
The same goes for the reviews, which I mostly commenting on. When people do reviews they normally, if they are a good reviewer, take price into account. Because most games are the standard $60 you don't see it mentioned much though. Just look at Deadly Premonition that was $20 last year on 360. It's a cult hit now. Supposedly the game is very broken and has a ton of technical and game play issues, but because it was $20 it was forgiven for a lot of it's issues and given very good reviews. It has a 68 right now, far higher than Duke's 49. Hell, Destructoid gave it a 100.

A bunch of PS3 fanboys talking about a ps3 game for too long... not surprised.

Again with the fanboy comments. Knubb is a self proclaimed fanboy but I'm not sure why I'm always grouped in. I talked about how I've spent over FOUR DAYS of game time on Borderlands on the THREE SIXTY. I also spent a decent amount of time commenting on my thoughts of teh FEAR games, which I own all on THREE SIXTY. And I was able to pick up both FEAR 3 and Brink on THREE SIXTY this week so hopefully I will have impressions next week.

Hell, I would love to have someone like you Leaf, that obviously hates my guts, come on and debate with me about a topic. I think it would be entertaining.

Well you have to understand they really dont know what they are talking about from industry point of view. They are bunch of gamers talking about games from their prospective.

Some of the issues I have is we are talking to a few people who don't have money to play games. Some guys that aren't really hardcore gamers. What did you play this week?.....1 game, lulz. Twigg knows the most and plays the most games so his opinion to be me holds some more weight. Some of the hate towards things are not so funny. I would like a more intelligent and witty approach on why some things "Suck".

I don't expect it to be that good, TBH. When I listen to the BombCast or Gametrailers - Invisible Walls you can see the difference after the first 2-3 mins. But that is those guys jobs. When I only have some much time to listen to a podcast....I choose those.

This is what we are hoping is the draw of our particular podcast, plus the fact that it's guys you know from the site. Of course if you want a higher quality podcast made and discussed by professionals there are tons of much better ones out there. But doing this podcast is the same reason I listen to the Gamer Husbands podcast along with the Giant Bomb's, Talk Radar's, etc. GH give a much more realistic opinion because they have limited funds to buy games. They are way more down to Earth and much more mile myself than those guys that get paid to play games.

With that said I still think Jay does a damn good job as a host and Brnt and Knubb do awesome jobs on the technical side of things with the artwork, music, etc. This thing has come a damn long way in a much shorter amount of time than I expected.

Duke is broken, buggy, and 12 years too late with it's writing. I think Gearbox was banking on it being a success because of the nostalgia factor (both humor and gameplay-wise), but most see it as dumb and shitty instead.

I have not played it, but I watched half of the Giant Bomb Quick Look before I shut it off. To put it simply, it just plain sucks.

Selling it at $30 wouldn't necessarily change that, but perceived value is becoming a bigger factor in gaming today. It's why iPhone games are selling out the ass. Not because they're amazing games, but they're great for the price.

I would play it. I thought the same thing too, but when I finally went and played it, I kept and open mind and realized that it was apparent that a lot of those points came from jaded game reviewers. The rest should be read by both Brnt and you.

Is it perfect? No. Is it being overly hated? Most definitely. Giantbomb being one of them. It is not a great game, by any means. But it is a fun game, despite what they say and the load times don't seem nearly as long when you aren't watching a video (I watched that quick look too and didn't want to play it, but in the end it really wasn't that bad of a load time).

And the broken, buggy, and 12 years too late thing is lame Brnt, particularly since it's based off of a quick look by GB. Play the game. I would not call it broken, nor particularly buggy (although that has become a word that varies depending on the person). And 12 years too late with the writing? Come on. It is intended to be that way, quite obviously. I know the guy's at GB want some post modern bullshit Duke Nukem thing, but who cares? That doesn't mean it isn't worth $60.

(all of that said, I am playing the game and while I enjoy it, I would not pay $60 for it -- but that isn't the same thing as saying that it shouldn't be sold for $60)

Oh, I'm definitely going to get it at some point. I would love to find a great deal on the Balls of Steel Edition actually.

My point was that there really wasn't any way that Gearbox was going to appease pro reviewers likle Giant Bomb. But you're kind of fucking over your loyal fanbase, people that enhjoyed the Brothers in Arms and Borderlands games, when you release a game that you know is mediocre at best at full price. I just think they could've retained a lot more respect if they would've said "We know this is an old ass game that has been in devleopment for nearly a liftime. And while we still think it's a great game that Duke fans will enjoy we are giving it a $40 price tag." That would've been great as far as good will is concerned.

But on the flip side I also know the stigma of "budget" games (it's also pretty sad that in this generation a $40 or $50 game is considered "budget", but that's for another thread entirely). It seems yo immediately turn off a lot of less informed consumers when you price a game lower than "normal" because they automatically think it's crap or shoevelware.

I don't think JMS's argument about being able to buy Mass Effect for $15 hold any weight. If you wait long enough you can find any game, great or otherwise, for dirt cheap. I'm specifically referring to brand new games.

Gearbox was in a tough position and now doubt probably one of the most unique situations in gaming probably in the last 20 years. It was probably a no-win either way. I just think things may have been a bit more favorable for them had they released it at $40 and said "We know it's a 90's game, which is why we're only charging a 90's price."

Would we like to have 50+ listeners from this site (and possibly many more now that we're on iTunes)? Of course. But, I know I speak for the whole crew when saying that we all love games and gaming. We wouldn't do this if we didn't. We all take time out of our schedules (some more than others-basically every one but me ) just to talk about games because it's a fun thing to do. We aren't getting paid for it. The only "payment" is the hopes that a few people listen and like what they hear.

Agreed but I think that is a different argument than what I was trying to make.

I think Angry Birds is grossly over rated and even though I got it for free as well (and all the expansions) I haven't played it in ages.

But I don't like playing any games on my phone.

Twigg, the way that I think that Gearbox won was: they put one mediocre game out as DNF. It still will sell. Not they own the title. Now, hopefully, they can make the most of that. I have faith. And considering I like the game for the most part...

Also, Angry Birds sucks. Someone could pay me to play it and I would not enjoy the experience.

I dunno man...it's a weird quick look. It isn't THAT behind the times, to be honest. I'd like to know what it is BEHIND as well, because it was clunky at times but that was it. Granted, I'm not a big FPS guy, but still, I don't think that there are many games that are much better than this (outside of graphically).

Humor-wise, I don't really get why you would approach the game at all then, if you don't find Duke funny. 3D wasn't a great game, it was an above average Doom clone that went all Army of Darkness and had a horrible B movie hero. That is all this game is doing, only intensified. I can appreciate not liking the humor, but I would think for a lot of people the humor/history would be why you would play the game in the first place. Which is why I can't understand totally why you would feel the need to state any kind of opinion about DNF considering it seems like you wouldn't have liked it regardless of what the Quicklook on GB said.

EDIT -- Just as a further point, there was an MS update when I played the game and I've yet to have any bugs, so...yeah. Perhaps a lot of those from the QL were fixed. Don't know for sure.

I think you can play angry birds in Google Chrome now. I don't play it much but I do know that once you get in a few levels, its hard as Hell!

You can say for all the companies that release Movie games as well. The developers all know they suck but they all release for $50-60. Iron man 1 and 2, Thor, ect, ect. Most people dont know and just buy.
