But theres an SEC championship game left to be played...why should shitty Georgia be in it and have an upset chance at winning the conference? Alabama is far better & more deserving.

Them playing again and (possibly)splitting the series would leave room for disagreement and debate in the determination of a NCG game participant. Something everyone is trying to avoid in college. If this point of disagreement/flaw(imo) can be avoided, whch it can, it should be. Staring this flaw/issue in the face seeing it, knowing what it could cause, and still running head first into it is retarded.

There would be no disagreement if they split the series. The first game played was a regular season game, the next game played would be the SEC championship game. The winner of the SEC championship game wins the conference. Why even have a conference championship game if the 2 best teams wont be in it?

The BCS allows for preserving the significance of the regular season, which is the most meaningful in sports.

If thats the case, than how does LSU beating Alabama hold any significance if they play in the NC game. If the regular season is a glorified "playoff", than wouldn't they be eliminated from the NC race if LSU is in the game?

There is an easy answer to that question, I'm glad you asked.

Because they will win the SEC East and the SEC Championship Game is played between the winner of the SEC West (LSU in this instance) and the SEC East (Georgia in this instance).

Georgia is now 9-2, 6-2 in the conference, and has a chance to be 10-2 going into the game if they beat Georgia Tech. Far shittier teams have represented their division in the SEC CG.

Georgia did not play Alabama, LSU or Arkansas this season so I think it is rather fitting that they get their chance to play the West champion and show what they can do.
