My only beef is when people try to categorize Brees as the best/one of the best/elite QB's in the game.

Brees is a nice player who puts up big numbers. But (dot dot dot) he literally threw away the Saints playoff chances two straight seasons, and he's been horrendous late in games in crucial situations, with statistics that bare this out. He hardly ever gets his teams to the playoffs, and when he does, he shits the bed.

That's not an elite player at his position, that's a stat monkey who is a hero for the fantasy geeks.

He's the antithisis of a guy like Eli Manning, who is not in a system that even allows him to approach those types of gaudy numbers, but put the money on the line, and he almost always gets the job done.

For example...he needed three points last night, and calmly & promoptly marched into field goal range from his own 15 and a 1st & 20, with 100k screaming idiot Dallas fans in his ear. When has Brees ever done that? Not to mention winning three road playoff games, then beating an undefeated team in the SB.

Game on the line, who would you want behind center?

The idea here isnt about Brees vs. Eli, the idea is you can't be an elite QB without winning under pressure. It's the nature of the position, and Brees has almost no history of coming up big in the clutch. In fact, he usually is just the opposite, and reverts to flat out bad play.

6 TD's vs. the Lions is fantastic. Now go win something.
 
Didn't PHI cut it to 14 at the end of the 3rd Q?

I guess it depends on your definition of "keep up". The Lions and Kevin Kolb hung around, but the bottom line is the Saints did what they were supposed to do and beat a bad team and a bad backup QB.

As for it not being effective with Vick, that's TBD. But, my point is, it won't be used so much when McNabb is back, in which case will make it more effective when they do use it, IMO.

the ultimate decider in something being effective is- did it help you win. The answer for this game is -no. possitive yards mean nothing if you dont finish. For the rest of the year now- the Eagles wont have a 100% healthy QB Mcnabb or a proven effective one- all the back ups. Vick maybe worth a few highlights but he wont get you there in long run.

I would say its all about Giants- Cowboys in that division now.

Why do you keep talking like this is supposed to be the central part of the offense? They ran the wildcat a total of 9 times yesterday. They'll run it even less when McNabb comes back. It's not going to make or break the Eagles season.

LOL @ saying the division is a 2 team race 2 games into the season. The Eagles gave up 41 points in week 2 last year and then got better as the year went on and it carried them into the NFC title game. Not saying it will be a repeat this year but its way too early to make predictions like that. Oh well, to each their own.

I said nothing about it being central. but if you are using it a whole drive- thats pretty central. The teams that will make it deep into the playoffs will be the ones who dont use or hardly use a wildcat. So there is really no point in using it if you are a good team.
its this years run and shoot offense.

bad ribs are bad ribs for the rest of the season . That doesnt bode well for the Eagles or McNabb. Honestly- i hope i'm wrong cause I like the Eagles

The question honestly I am thinking how can McNabb being available to play stop the Saints from posting 48. Do you think a McNabb lead Eagles would outscore the Saints. Remember New Orleans let off the gas. Philly's D was not stopping the Saints from scoring.

The Eagles had no problems moving the ball, they just kept turning it over.

I'm not saying the outcome would be the exact same. What I am saying is that I am wondering how different do people think the game will be. I am saying if McNabb was playing it would have been a shootout. Everyone is saying it like the Eagles would have won no question if McNabb was playing. Thats just a little gripe I have. No one giving the Saints any credit over a good looking victory
