What popular franchise do you dislike or simply not "get" ?

Anything with hobbits, wizards, vampires, fairies or warewolves I'm immediately out on.

The Resident Evil movies.

The Kill Bill series and Grindhouse and Sin City too for that matter.

All the CBS shows.. not just the comedies. NCIS and CSI are both terrible. I'd watch old Law and Order episodes over them any day.

I think Girls is funny, certainly not groundbreaking stuff to me. House of Lies is a much funnier show IMO.

Superohero movies are usually a no go with the rare exceptions like the Christopher Nolan or the first Iron Man. Anything with fighting robots I take a pass on as well.

Anything starring Nicholas Cage, Keanu Reeves, Shia LeBeouf, Jack Black or the Rock. (Notable exceptions: Bernie, God of War, The Replacements).

This I definitely agree with, all the ads during the Super Bowl that show cased their shows I just thought "I don't watch any of those shows because they look bad." The only CBS show I watch is 'The Amazing Race.'

I couldn't possibly disagree more about 90% of it. But females I know love it because they identify with Penny. BBT is an extremely smart show, Arrested Development was more smug than smart IMO. I was turned off pretty quickly in spite of the talented cast.

Grindhouse was such a B movie and faded pretty quickly. Does it really count as popular ?

I feel like that whole Robert Rodriguez comic books on the big screen style got a lot of love in the mid-2000s and I personally didn't care for any of them.

Grindhouse and Sin City were the two that popped into my head right away.. 300 was another one.

Batman, and just about any of the other superhero movies. Don't get me wrong, all of the Nolan movies were extremely well-done and rank pretty high on my list of movies, and the Avengers was pretty good, but I just don't get turning comics into movies.

lol at this being thanked by "Bane" too funny.

As for TBBT sorry is a smart show , the references are hysterical and fit perfectly inline with the characters. It could have easily gotten stale and they added two characters seamlessly and everyone in that cast has great awareness of not only themselves but of there characters. Theres nothing low brow or cheap about the show. They know how to use slapstick or other lowbrow references as an occasional accessory not rely on them as most comedies do. Jim Parsons in particular is amazing. He should in every way be annoying but because of how its written and how they play off each other it never comes off as truly obnoxious just friggin hysterical.

Arrested Development to contrast was like the Dennis Miller of comedy shows.

I wont groan an opinion in a thread of opinions but you are flat out wrong..

 

I guess Wallace never got shot, Frank Sobotka didn't get killed seconds before being able to save his family, D'Angelo was never strangled in prison, brother Mouzone and Omar never took out String, Prop Joe was never sold out by his own kin and Omar never got taken out by a kid

There were plenty of other more nuanced moments in the show that were as, if not more impactful, than those listed.

I civilly discussed this in the Wire thread a year ago. I really wanted to 'get' the appeal. It just didnt work for me.

Yes, but im in an extreme minority. I suggest at least trying it. I tapped out during Season 2, tried again Season 3 (gf was still watching), and gave up again.
