Trade that pick for a kings ransom. I imagine a team like Miami would give up a first this year, first next year, second this year, fourth this year and probably a 2nd or 3rd next year. That's how you address multiple needs.

Honestly, I think it will be more than that. I think it takes a minimum of three first rounders plus other picks to get it done. Thats been the rumored price for most of the year.

It will be a first round pick this year, and then a first rounder next year. The Bengals, Pats and Browns own two first rounders apiece this year, so any team wanting to trade for the #1 overall pick will need to talk with them to get the third first rounder, so that is certainly going to cost a player.

Me personally, I don't think it will be worth it. As for my team, I don't think that the Redskins will do it- I think they are willing to sit back and wait for RGIII or Jones.

If Manning is healthy, then they should trade the pick, because some team will over pay for Luck.

If there any questions at all, I'd take Luck.

Nobody knows how good Luck is going to be, but if you are the owner of an organization and you have the opportunity to get the best QB prospect in years then you have to take it.

There are some awful quarterbacks in this league for some teams who haven't had a decent QB in years. I imagine those teams are willing to pay a whole lot for Luck.

That isn't really a blanket statement, and it depends on the team.

I can't imagine the Redskins doing it, for a couple reasons. One, Shanahan has already made a mistake trading high draft picks for McNabb, and that didn't work. Two, he staked his reputation on Beck and Grossman this year, and that failed. I think Shanahan really has to draft who comes to him, because we can't give up the extra picks if we hope to improve the depth on the offensive line.

But for a team like Miami, who has a good defense, a solid line and talent at the skill positions, they can afford to do it. The 49ers could also do it, depending on how Alex Smith does in the playoffs. The Browns might do it, but they are in a position to take RGIII if they want to go quarterback. And who knows what the new coach of the Rams is going to do.

Still, I don't see teams giving up that kind of talent for just one player. I think the Colts are going to have to accept a lesser package of picks, or take Luck, and I think they will have to take Luck.

I have trouble believing that Manning will be able to play 3 more seasons. I just feel like this neck thing is going to force him into retiring.

Just let Luck learn from Manning and he will be the master in 3-4 seasons. Look at what it's done for the Packers.

There is no other position that can overcome other weaknesses than the quarterback.

Let's imagine that Luck lives up to the hype and turns into a top 5 QB in the NFL. How long will the Colts contend for? The next 15 years maybe? If you have the chance to take a player like that I think you have to take it. Other positions are much easier to address than QB.

I don't think he'll have more than 2 seasons, 3 if he's extremely lucky. You gotta draft Luck so you can have continued success for another 10 seasons. I think trading the #1 pick away for a plethora of picks is short sited and will come back to bite this team if that is the direction they decide to go.

I agree with this.

But if Manning isn't going to be around for much longer + his neck is a serious concern Indy can't reasonably expect to win a SB with him...so what's the point of keeping him around? To mentor Luck? That's a high price to pay for a QB coach.

You have a valid point and I don't think Manning has any real chance at all of winning the Superbowl, I'm not sure what Colts management thinks. Whatever happens I would either trade Peyton or have Luck sit. Manning's glory/MVP days are over.

Grand idea. Lets throw Peyton out there with relatively the same team so we can bide our time with Luck. I doubt Peyton plays advisor to Luck.

They should trade the pick, load up, and try for one more run with Peyton if he is healthy. If he isn't, then don't do that and take Luck. Another Luck will come along in 4-5 years when the Colts are back in this position.

In general it is just a terrible situation for the Colts. Draft him and there are still major holes in this team. Trade the pick and risk missing out on the quarterback of the future. I am so happy I am not a Colts fan, cause this is just a headache for me, and I have no stake in it.

All of these supposed "major holes" the Colts have will magically be filled when Peyton came back (assuming he's 80% of his former self). It's the same team he's been dragging to the playoffs every year.

The Colts already have an all time great behind C, so you trade that pick for the massive haul it brings you. No player in NFL history is worth SIX first round draft picks (which is the dumbest rumor ever, any team that trades SIX first rounders for an unknown commodity is out of their fucking minds).

Big difference there, because Rodgers slipped in the draft and fell in GB's lap. They wouldn't have wasted a #1 pick on a second QB.
