If Manning can play for 4-5 more years, trade the #1 for a shit ton of picks, and rebuild the OL & Defense. If Manning plans on retiring in the next couple yrs, draft Luck and either trade Peyton or have Luck sit & wait his turn.

You have to pick Luck for the long term future of the franchise. Even with a healthy Peyton he lasts probably 3-4 more years after a neck surgery. I sure as hell would hate to see Peyton in another uniform though.

In general it is just a terrible situation for the Colts. Draft him and there are still major holes in this team. Trade the pick and risk missing out on the quarterback of the future. I am so happy I am not a Colts fan, cause this is just a headache for me, and I have no stake in it.

B. Draft the top prospect in years
C. Have both at the same time (unlikely)

The only sickening thought is the idea of Manning playing for another team.

Honestly, I think it will be more than that. I think it takes a minimum of three first rounders plus other picks to get it done. Thats been the rumored price for most of the year.

It will be a first round pick this year, and then a first rounder next year. The Bengals, Pats and Browns own two first rounders apiece this year, so any team wanting to trade for the #1 overall pick will need to talk with them to get the third first rounder, so that is certainly going to cost a player.

Me personally, I don't think it will be worth it. As for my team, I don't think that the Redskins will do it- I think they are willing to sit back and wait for RGIII or Jones.

Who has ever given up 3 firsts to move up for anything? Luck will cost a lot, but even the Colts asking for 3 firsts is only a negotiation ploy. It's not a realistic option for teams, so it's not really a realistic option for returns.

There really isn't a bad option for them. Either take an extremely elite prospect at a position that basically runs the NFL, or get a lot of premium picks and their future HOF QB back. I'd trade the pick, honestly. Hedge your bets. Grab Richardson to give Manning an actual run game. There are always more good QB prospects out there, but there aren't always top end trade offers.

If you think they are gonna go for a run with Peyton that obviously means they will have a later pick and aren't gonna be able to draft that 'next' Andrew Luck prospect unless they mortgage everything away. They would probably be left with no one decent, again.

Honestly I see the Colts getting 2 more years out of him TOPS. Realistically I say he comes back next season and then retires. In that case, draft Luck OR trade down and fill other holes and next year look to draft Barkley.

I wouldn't be mad either way, if they chose to trade it they need to grab the kid out of Alabama or whoever the baddest tailback is in the draft. try to fill some holes and do what you have to do.

If they choose luck I wouldn't be heated either.

we haven't had a pick like this in years, it's almost exciting knowing you're actually going to get a legit talent in the first round as opposed to picking in the back and getting the scraps of what's left.

One thing Polish has said over & over is they wanna bring in PLAYMAKERS on 3rd down, and that screams RG3 to me...I just don't know. Its a very weird position to be in.

It would be an 7 to 9 win football team with Peyton. Or you trade the pick, load up, and make one more run. I'm a big believer in winning whenever you can so maybe thats why I'm so against Luck. Perhaps its because the Lions were always building for the future. I'd rather have success whenever you can get it, rather than some plan that will allegedly make you good for years.

People seem to forget that Andrew Luck is not a sure thing. I know everyone says he is as close to a sure thing as you can get, whatever the hell that means. Plenty of to guys that have gone top 5 were sure things but they never panned out. A healthy Peyton is a proven commodity and its the GM's job to give him all the help he can.

Except they didn't have an all time great on their team already. For every Peyton Manning, there is also a Ryan Leaf/Jamarcus Russell type.
