It's completely unfair for me to judge them based on less than a handful of games, but I wasn't all that impressed with FSU last night.

The offense was extremely lackluster in both the run and pass game. Their biggest offensive plays came from quick hitch routes and missed tackles. Vanilla route combinations and Winston looked pedestrian. I know Auburn is good, but FSU did not look like one of the best teams of all time last night, IMO.

There's a lot of smoke that Auburn stole Florida State's signals during the first half. So in the second half Jimbo had two water boys hold up towels to block the view...

Auburn QB coach Damien Craig is the assumed culprit, since he coached at FSU last year.

What do you people want? They played a mediocre schedule, but dominated. They got punched in the mouth in the first half of the NC game, but figured it out. They then basically shut Auburn down in the second half. Had they beat Auburn by 30 you'd guys be saying "Auburn is a weak #2 and if it wasn't for a some lucky plays against Georgia, 'Bama, etc they wouldn't have even been there." Can't win with you dudes.

I would say they are right in the top 5 and to be debated between '95 Nebraska and '01 Miami.
Before I compare them to the '01 Miami team, we will have to see where these players end up being drafted and how their pro careers turn out.

2008 OU team, who held the most points scored before FSU broke it Monday night, lost against Texas and ended up losing in the National Title. How was their schedule?

The defense played filthy all year, changing from a Stoops zone concept to a Pruitt attacking 3-4 hybrid.

As for the National Title game:
Malzahn and Company did a great job of being prepared, playing at a high level and gave the Noles their best punch. We saw a different kind of Auburn team then we did all year.

I was highly disappointed after the first offensive drive for FSU because they looked pretty good and if they score a TD, it changes the dynamic of the game a little bit more. After that I don't think FSU gave their best effort until the fake punt woke them up some, which you shouldn't need in a big title game but a lil Bobby magic never hurt.

After that, FSU outscored Auburn 31-10

Florida State's second, third, fourth and fifth drives spanned just 31 yards over 14 plays. Auburn's defense played out of its mind, much better than it had for the entire season, regardless of opponent. Defensive backs played like they knew the route Florida Sate would run. Three receivers and a tight end headed to the NFL couldn't get separation against a group of Auburn corners and safeties that could barely be described as "good" through 13 games.

Did you ever wonder how Auburn's suspect secondary was able to cover Florida State's four NFL-bound receivers and tight end so well for the first seven drives of the game? The Tigers held Florida State to just 156 yards on 33 plays through the first half of the ballgame.

"Dameyune [Craig] calling [out] all the plays," the audio says. Craig, of course, coached for Fisher from 2010 to 2012 before leaving for Auburn.

After Benjamin shouts that, Florida State runs 30 pays for 229 yards. Its yards-per-play increased by about 75-percent, more commensurate with the highest scoring offense in college football history.
