Who is more deserving?

I agree that TCU is more deserving than Texas, but I just thought I'd toss this into the discussion as well.

Texas' main assets are preseason polls and name recognition, it's a shame. I don't even hate the BCS there's too much other nonsense going on in college football.

The arguments against Texas are that they played a weak Big 12 conference this season. They're getting by on name recognition alone. They also had one of the most unconvincing championship games.

Meanwhile Cincy struggled against Pittsburgh, who proved that they were riding an easy schedule in the Big Easy. Then you have the fact that yes, they play the Big East. Who at one point housed half of their conference in the top 25, and two teams in the top 10. Now they have one undefeated team in the top 10, and another team in Pittsburgh ranked from 15-25. Are you sure it was a tough conference this season?

TCU is really riding the Bandwagon wave. Everyone wants to see them in the title game, as they wanted to see Utah a year ago, or a year prior to that. TCU more or less, though very talented and could give any team a run for their money doesn't have much more to base their argument on, other then the wagon riding love. If TCU pulls a Utah and destroys whoever they play, then yes, they have an argument.

I agree we need a playoff system, I want everyone of these undefeated teams to have a shot at the title. Until then though, you'll have to deal with a Texas/Bama National Title game.

anyway, after the fit Texas fans threw after OU going to the title game last year, There's no chance they don't get in this year.

Thank you, preseason polls do so much damage. No polls should be released until after the fifth week of the college season. Let teams play because to many times some team ranked top 10 will stay there despite barely beating opponents.

If I was the TCU AD, I would be texting, e-mailing, and calling every pollster with this information in hopes of swaying votes. Texas does not deserve the free ride to the championship game.

Unfortunately, he won't be swaying many votes if he goes that route. The computers are set, the Coaches' Poll is done by ADs from BCS schools (natural bias against letting TCU in), and Harris Poll voters. His only realistic shot of changing votes is with the Harris Poll voters.

I doubt the computers are going to bump up TCU significantly either considering most had Nebraska as a top 25 team. If today's Sagarin ratings are any indication, the computers might have a Florida/Alabama rematch.

What I truly don't understand is how 4 coaches and 2 AP pollsters could have Texas as #1. I can see the argument for #2, but can anyone with a straight face say Texas is the best team in the nation?

I'd be willing to bet that the 4 Coaches' Poll votes come from representatives of the Big 12 (or someone who gains by having Texas in the championship), and the AP votes come from Texas beat writers.

EDIT: By my count, there are six coaches from the Big 12 who vote.
