actually studies say the avg gamer is around 30 and I get why they say it is so....by that age, people have grown up with a PS1 by the time they hit their teenage years. I could understand if the avg game buyer is 30 but so many sites state this as a fact. I went to my little bros graduation and my step bro (34) and him (23) were talking about playing COD; I'm not a COD player.

The only thing I know about KH is that it looks Japanesey and it features Disney characters. I have no idea how good it is or was; I never looked at screen shots and thought I had to cross over and play this RPG. I guess I think a game is great if it can make people, who don't play that genre cross over. I'm sure a lot did but I wasn't one of them.

I hate it because it takes away play time from other games in the backlog. Honestly... I'm more of a lone wolf, so it works. I find enjoyment in prestige as well as building up weapons. An occasional K-9 unit killstreak is satisfying as well.

Your two posts have summed up my feeling pretty much perfectly. I'm not even sure why the topic of the video is "Why do we hate CoD" when clearly, the gaming community doesn't hate CoD. Now, the Twigg's of the world can insult those that play those games year in and year out, but at the end oft he day, they're all that's keeping the video game industry afloat now-a-days, in a lot of ways. Every day I'm amazed at how fickle the fans of this industry are, and how self-conscious. "I hate this game, so everyone else must or they're idiots!" "HOW CAN YOU LIKE THAT PIECE OF SHIT!?" Stuff like that isn't the point. Games are played for enjoyment. If you "hate" CoD, chances are you're worried way too much about what other people play and enjoy. Relax, play what you like, let other people play what they like, and hey, maybe we'll all be happy?

As far as I'm concerned, I loved COD4, and haven't really played much after that. Competitive MP was never really my thing, but it's become less my thing as I get older. So I guess I nothing the series in general. I'm more interested in trying to parse out how it would be numbered, at this point. It gets kind of hilarious breaking down the numbers.

My issues with the series is the lack of innovation and the killstreaks. Those things are fucking whack. Please don't brag to me about how great you are at CoD and how amazing you K/D is when at least half of your kills are from some bullshit CPU controlled reward system.

It also doesn't help that more oftenthan not, the CoD community is akin to the stereotypical Xbox Live douchebag. Just listen to ten random CoD pregame lobbies and ten from any other game, Battlefield included, and tell me I'm wrong.

While I agree with the innovation part, I would have to disagree with your K/D theory Twigg. This is only my opinion though. I have a tough time getting 10 plus kills without dying for a stealth chopper (which isn't very stealthy with the map sizes). I would say I reach it 1 out of 10 matches. I feel like I've earned it when it happens. Then again, I run and gun almost every match.

The talk in lobbies is always on mute for me and I haven't mic'ed up in over a year. Listening to people argue in lobbies isn't my thing and I've heard the same garbage in pretty much every mp shooter lobby that I've played. From Halo to Killzone.

I will preface this by saying I don't hate the CoD series; if anything, I find Call of Duty to be one of the more enjoyable series out there. The multiplayer is typically fun for 10-15 hours, which is fine in my books. While the single player is nothing to write home about, I love the set pieces and I generally have a ton of fun with it.

With that said, I think Ghosts is a stinking pile of shit. I think the maps are absolutely horrendous. They're a huge clusterfuck of mazes designed to have you get shot in the back consistently. Speaking of getting shot, on the PS4, there would be many times where I got the jump on the person I was shooting, but I would still die in the shootout. Looking at the killcam, the person who killed me, whom on my screen I started shooting first, always got the jump on me. Not sure if that would be considered a problem with lag or a problem with the netcode, but either way, it was incredibly frustrating.

My other reason for hating Ghosts is that the progression system has become muddled. In Ghosts, instead of unlocking [x] gun at [y] level, I receive these arbitrary skill points almost at random. I like the structure of that system. It's predictable and I know exactly what I need to do. The other thinking muddling the game online is the different tiers of perks. Simply put, there are too many options now. I liked the relatively simplicity of CoD4 and MW2.

I'll be interested to see the next-gen sales compared to 360 when it's into the summer next year. I am not sure how many gamers did what I did, but after GTAV I did not purchase a single game on the 360 or PS3, and waited for the next gen versions to come out. I would imagine there is a good percentage, but enough to make up the difference in sales you are thinking? Not sure.

Hell yes. Absolutely loved those two games, along with 2 and 3. I wish someone would give us a good WW2 console shooter again.
