Would you want Michael Vick On Your Team?

Don't you remember - he once took the Falcons to the NFC Championship game. Sure, that year no other team in the NFC South was above .500, the Falcons record would've only been good for a 5th seed in the AFC that year and all he had to do once he reached the play-offs was play a medicore 8-8 Rams team, where he was outshone by a kick returner before getting blown out by the Eagles.

But the way Vick huggers keep bringing it up, you'd think it was the greatest achievement in mankind since we put a man on the moon.

There are only five current NFL starting quarterbacks with Super Bowl rings.
Your argument isn't good enough.
Before he electrocuted dogs and lied his ass off, Vick IMO was a top 10-15 quarterback in the league and revitalized the Atlanta Falcons.
Was he the most accurate QB ever? No
Was he the greatest decision maker? No
Did he put asses in the seats, put the Falcons in the playoffs (including an unheard of win on the road vs. Green Bay) and excite the living hell out of everyone in attendance? Yes

Vick brought a unique skillset to the game and should be given credit for that.

Was he perfect? Obviously not, but I'd take him over a number of starting quarterbacks right now.



Vick is better than these team's starting quarterbacks (assuming he's 95% of what he was before going to prison): Cleveland, Denver, Oakland, Detroit, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, San Francisco.

He's arguably an upgrade for these teams: Buffalo, Houston, Washington and St. Louis.

I thought about adding Carolina to my second list, but Delhomme just signed a huge extension and other than that 5-INT game, has been a pretty reliable performer for the Panthers.
That extension, mind you, seems baffling from a financial perspective.

I'm not a huge Michael Vick fan, and would I welcome him on the Jaguars? No. But that is because my team is starting to base them selves off of good character guys and at this point don't need a huge media circus in that locker room all summer when they are trying to get back to being a successful ball club. Plus I am a believer in David Garrard and believe if he is given time in the pocket that he can be a good QB in this league.
Now if I am a team who is desperate for QB help and need a spark plug on the offensive side of the ball, then yes I would take a shot at Mike Vick. I personally think he would look good in the Vikings offense. With having such a successful run game like he had in Atlanta, I think Mike would come right in and add another dynamic element to that offense. Plus Mike and Percy Harvin in the Wildcat formation could be one of the most dangerous things in football. When guys like Ray Lewis, Leonard Little and Pacman Jones are all given second chances but say Mike Vick shouldn't have one are just pathetic. I hate people who value animals lives or humans, it has never made sense to me and never will. It's ok to murder another human being, but it's the biggest crime in the world if a man funds dog fights. Please.

As a vikings fan, I have little to no desire to go through anymore scandals (loveboat, williams bors) or another 4 years of a "running" QB (Travaris). I have zero desire to have Vick on my time. All i hear is "Wildcat" well thats not going to work 24/7 every game, or even most games (see dolphins in playoffs). With our team a pocket passer would benefit us more than any running QB. Running QB's dont win SB's. They dont even make it to SB's. But a short to intermediate accurate passer would open holes for adrian that even Rudi Johnson could run through.

My vote for Vikings QB is Bret '10

The dropped passes argument is played out. had it for years on MM and statisically Vick didn't even have the most dropped passes in the NFL during his tenure. Guys like McNabb actually suffered through more and put up better numbers.

Perhaps the reason those guys never developed as WR's was that Vick was their QB...............hmmmmmmmmmm.........I'm guessing it's hard to develop as a WR when you have a QB who couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

Yes and No. Yes, I would want his tremendous athleticism. But not at QB(Aaron is our guy). Theres no doubt hes a magician with the ball in his hands. But I don't want him playing to win us games at QB.

As far as the learning his lesson from all this...well the jury is still out.
 
I'd consider it if he could play Quarterback better than David Garrard... but I wouldn't know because Garrard's only had really one year as a good starter and another as a "bad" one because the O-Line imploded.

Can't say anything if he was to become a receiver either because JAX did that experiment already and it failed miserably.
