But anyway, I just listened to all of Sir Lucious Left Foot. There's not a song I don't like. I even like Vonnegutt on Follow Us, and I tolerated Gucci on Shine Blockas...

I wish Daddy Fat Sax was longer. lol.

The whole damned thing was awesome, in my opinion. Like, I'm not gonna listen to anything off Recovery because I really dislike Eminem.

And, Thank Me Later was way better than I thought it'd be, but I don't like every song. I actually haven't listened to that much yet, but I'm a big hater of Over...

But, this album... Nothing I didn't like. Oh... and the skits at the end of some of the songs are amazing.

This. Gave this another listen. Maybe it was the long ass joint and 3 grav rips I took to the face, but I swear this album sounded incredible last night.

Every track is a fucking banger, and that's just on my laptop speakers. I can only imagine how great it sounds through a car system. Something tells me that this is all you hear coming out the windows of every Caprice in Atlanta right now.

Be Still might be my favorite song ever. Just throwing that out there. Janelle Monae's voice is so god damned good. And Shine Blockas succeeds because the beat is fucking flames. I finally realized it was a sped up version of "Can't Be Life", one of the nicest beats of all time. Big Boi does it justice, and Gucci man did enough not to fuck up the song.

In sum= Album is a 5/5

Extreme overrating of Em's alright album.

Doesn't touch the insanity and raw desire of the Shady LP (first LPs tend to outshine any that follow in most cases in the rap game)...doesn't touch the anger or power of the Mathers LP...doesn't have the pop appeal of the Eminem Show (the first glimpse into this "new Eminem" that Woy so calls it).

Ever since...its been downhill for Em...Encore featured nearly an entire skippable EP's worth of songs...just overall, a poor effort. He comes back with Relapse and its stronger than the drug induced Encore album but it still falls flat and doesn't have near the timelessness as his major LPs. Recovery is slightly better than Relapse and it is held back by poor production, track selection, and hooks. Em's complex rhyming is on point, but the whole album just doesn't come together...also, lots of skips...

If he took the best from Relapse and Recovery, made one album, got some improved production...we're talking about a very strong album...as is...Recovery is alright...has some good tunes, some strong work lyrically in most cases...but "new Eminem" is less motivated, hungry, and lacks a pivital muse that drove him to his earlier success (could be Kim, his hatred for being a celeb, his mother, the drive to get out of the gutter and do better for his daughter...whatever).

He is no longer the insane Slim Shady, no longer the angry Marshall Mathers, he's Eminem and that is...well...not as good. Still strong lyrically, nothing can take that away from him...but something is missing from the equation.

Nobody in the game came stronger than Eminem from 98 to 03...the man was a force of nature...ever since...well...he's come back down to Earth. I mean, look at his work from that period on his own albums...the Dre album...Obie and 50's album...D12's first album...et al...that 98-03 time period, Em was white hot fire...we won't ever see it again, and you hate to compare, but we know what the man is capable of, so when he comes out with Relapse and Recovery...everyone wants to like it...but its not the same and its not as strong...I mean, lyrically, the man is on point, but the albums haven't come together like they used to.

Love the production on both of those.

Pilot Talk - Curren$y

Weed, cars, bitches; that's Curren$y's life and he'll brag about it in almost every line he spits. After being dropped from Young Money, him and Dame Dash resurrected Roc-A-Fella records as the rapper from New Orleans continued to drop mixtape after mixtape. This Ain't No Mixtape dropped last year and I still bump some of the tracks daily from it. (He also released another LP called Jet Files, but I've never listened to it yet.) Now that his third album has dropped - one of top five albums I was most excited for coming into the summer - there was no doubt that I was reviewing this.

1.) Example - 4/5

Just like This Ain't No Mixtape, the intro/first track starts with a couple of guitars in the background. Gives off a very chill vibe, just like most of Curren$y's past work. It's not technically an intro, but the length resembles it. Good start to the album.

2.) Audio Dope II - 4/5

Example leads perfectly into the second track Audio Dope II, as the drums in the background give off the laid-back feel that consists throughout the entire album. The beats are already possibly some of my favorites in any project this year, so if Spitta's rhymes won't catch your attention, at least you can enjoy the background music.

3.) King Kong - 5/5

The lead single of this was released to the public months ago and it had me real hyped for the album. Everything's just so dope about this, from the beat to the showboating lyrics. I've been bumping this song in my car every day for at least a month straight.

4.) Seat Change ft. Snoop Dogg - 3.5/5

When the original tracklist came out, this song had Wiz Khalifa for a guest appearance. As a big fan of the rapper from Pittsburgh, this raised my hopes for this track, but a last-minute change lowered my expectations...at least by a rating of enjoyability. I've never been a huge fan of Snoop Dogg, but he doesn't ruin this track. In fact, I think I enjoy his verse more than Curren$y's.

5.) Breakfast - 4.5/5

Short, but so damn good. The horns at the beginning bring you in, then the drums come in as Spitta lets loose on an impressive verse, which includes giving his boy Wiz Khalifa a shoutout. Unfortunately, it's just one verse and it sounds like a freestyle more than an album track, which bumps it down from a 5/5.

6.) Roasted ft. Trademark & Young Roddy - 5/5

Possibly my favorite Curren$y line from this album resides in this song.

Olympic swimmin' in bitches, Michael slash Leon Phelps"​

Trademark does a decent job on his first verse, then rips up the hook very nicely...possibly my favorite hook of the album. Young Roddy sounds just like Spiita as he finishes off the song with his third verse and he does a good job himself. Probably my third favorite song of the album.

7.) Skybourne ft. Smoke DZA & Big K.R.I.T. - 4/5

The beat gives an elevator music type feel to it, which continues the chill and relaxing theme of the entire album. For the first time, Spitta gets overshadowed by his one guest artist Big K.R.I.T. Another solid track.

8.) The Hangover ft. Mikey Rocks - 3/5

Can't pull out anything that I like from this. Not a bad track by any means, but it is the worst on the album.

9.) The Day ft. Jay Electronica & Mos Def - 5/5

Top five track of 2010 for me. Curren$y starts off the song with a very nice first verse, then Mos Def adds a great hook that fits the beat and subject matter of the song. Jay Electronica then comes in and overshadows Spitta, but it's all good because both artists came with their A-game.

10.) Prioritize (Beeper Bill) ft. Nesby Phips - 4.5/5

From the two tracks I've heard Nesby Phips (including this one), I've started to come a fan of him. He does well on Wiz Khalifa's Supply from Kush and Orange Juice and impresses here as well. Curren$y's hook pays homage to Big Boi during Outkast's album Aquemini...it's pretty dope.

11.) Chilled Coughpee ft. Devin the Dude - 3.5/5

Another really short song, but it's got some humor to it; especially with Devin the Dude's verse. In addition to talking about smoking weed, he throws some funny metaphors in there and even speaks about reusing a condom. The beat fits this perfectly, just like every song on the album.

12.) Address ft. Stalley - 4.5/5

Curren$y goes in with a dope first verse, then Stalley - who the hell is this guy? - responds with a dope verse of his own. I can't even decide who's was better, but this song just screams dope as well.

13.) Life Under the Scope - 5/5

And the album ends on a really high note, as Spitta takes a song from his mixtape Smokee Robinson and tweaks the instrumentals to create an amazing track.

Overall Grade: 4.3/5

Besides maybe The Hangover, there are no weak spots in this album. Everything's just so awesome about this project, from the beats (best production I've heard in a mixtape/album all year) to the lyrics (not the flashiest, but some of the most clever) and even the guest appearances. I can listen to the entire thing multiple times and focus my attention on something different with each listen while still enjoying it. Roc-A-Fella came back with a huge bang with Pilot Talk for sure.

I had pretty high expectations coming into this, considering Spitta's work on This Ain't No Mixtape (estimated 3.7/5 if I were to rate it song by song) but this succeeded them all. Like I mentioned in the last review (Big Boi's Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty), I find that Eminem's Recovery has more standout tracks, but it wasn't as complete as Big Boi's. This surpasses them both in how complete it is and I can't find one major flaw that brings it down. It's the jets, fool.

Lazarus - Travie McCoy

Goddamn,I just listened to Akidagain. Best song on the album by far. And the sample(Chorus) is fucking awesome, I was just looking for it.

Would like to see you review As Cruel as School Children and Papercut Chronicles just to see what you think of those two. The Quilt was garbage for the most part.

Gave the Pilot Talk album a listen, mostly due to Woy talking it up the last couple of weeks. I didn't really like it. I appreciate the direction Currensy is heading, he's come a long way since the early features on Weezy mix tapes. The beats are refreshing, but none of them are bangers. Currensy can spit, but none of the songs held my attention at all.

Best track on the album...sucks that it's only a little more than 3 minutes. Mos should have gotten a verse as well instead of just the hook.

And yeah, it's my favorite album so far this year. My rating basically is based on enjoyability and I feel Pilot Talk is the first album that I've reviewed so far that I can just press play on track one and listen to it the whole way through without skipping something. Recovery and the others had at least one track that I never really wanted to listen to.

Thanks for the comments Hoody and X. The beats are so relaxing and there are a few bangers there IMO...I'm pretty sure I heard he got a live band to work with him on a few tracks or something. X, glad you agree with me on Akidagain...very nice song. I can give the GCH albums a listen whenever I have time and I'll give a rough review, but I won't go into detail like I am with these because they aren't really new. I focus my reviews for new albums/mix-tapes.

Going to review Boston's Boy by Sam Adams next. A lot of you will probably be turned off by him, but I enjoy his music and am eager to dive into not only what I heard from the EP in March, but the new tracks that came out on the LP as well.

The whole reason that I downloaded Pilot Talk was to hear the track with Jay Electronica and Mos Def but the whole thing was pretty dope.

Also Stalley's a pretty good up and coming rapper. That song was released a while before the album.
