I think the Titans would be better off with Harvin, Gage seemed to develop into a decent #1 receiver and having Harvin out of the slot would be nice. Plus if you have Chris Johnson and Harvin on the field at the same time the Titans could create some nice plays

I love Nicks as well; if Maclin, Harvin, or Heyward-Bey aren't there, I'd be satisfied with Nicks.

Exactly one of the reasons why I want Harvin; there'd be so much speed on that offense, it'd be scary. Gage is still not a #1 threat in my book yet.

2009 NFL Draft Round One

bolded means it was a different pick than before.


1st Overall Pick:

Selection: OT Andre Smith, Alabama

Now that Bradford has said he will return to the world of studying and books, the Detroit Lions are put in a tough spot. Matt Stafford will have to really prove something at the combine to gain that first overall pick. Andre Smith did have a few off the field problems, but he is the best prospect in my opinion at the offensive line position, and Detroit will look to build a solid line around him.

2nd Overall Pick:

Selection: OT Eugene Monroe, Virginia

What a boring start to the draft. Two straight lineman selected. The Rams see Smith come off the board early and they realize Monroe has to be taken now. Bulger is still under contract for a while, and Orlando Pace is getting older. Monroe is a smart offensive lineman who will provide a nice big body for both Bulger and the Rams running back next season.

3rd Overall pick:

Selection: OLB Aaron Curry, Wake Forest

I originally had them taking Andre Smith, but now that both OT are off the board early, it looks as if Scott Pioli will look to build from the defensive side. Curry is a smart player and a veteran as well, as he is one of the few seniors from this years draft. The Chiefs only had 10 sacks all season, and can use Curry to apply some pressure off the edge. Also look for the Chiefs to entertain the idea of drafting Brian Orakpo.

4th Overall Pick:

Selection: WR Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech

Same as last draft.

5th Overall Pick:

Selection: CB Malcolm Jenkins, Ohio State

Not as set in stone on this pick as last time, but still see it happening....for now.

6th Overall Pick:

Selection: DE Brian Orakpo, Texas

Originally had Cincinnati going offensive line here, but defense was definitely a weakness last year. Orakpo can help a suspect secondary by getting a lot of pressure on the quarterback from one of the defensive end spots. No one on the front line for Cincy is special, so Orakpo will make an immediate impact.

7th Overall Pick:

Selection: OT Michael Oher, Ole Miss

Oher may not be the most finely tuned offensive tackle in the draft, but if he can work on his mechanics he will be a stud for the Raiders. He isn't a flashy pick, but he is the smart pick for a porous offensive line. He is becoming better and better at run blocking, which is key for a team that uses Justin Fargas, Darren McFadden, and Michael Bush as a big part of their offense.


8th Overall Pick:

Selection: OT Jason Smith, Baylor

May be a bit too early here, but Smith is the best option for the Jags. Khalif Barnes was statistically one of the worst LT's in the league last season, and the Jaguars need good pass block for David Garrard, who doesn't make many mistakes when he has time. Maurice Jones Drew wouldn't mind another big guy to run behind either. Smith has really good feet, and he has the talent to become a great tackle.

9th Overall Pick:

Selection: DE/OLB Everrette Brown, Florida State

Brown is moving up the draft boards, as he is a great pass rusher who compiled 13.5 sacks past season. The Packers need to generate pass rush opposite of Aaron Kampman, and Brown is the guy to do this.

10th Overall Pick:

Selection: QB Mathew Stafford, Georgia

If Stafford doesn't go first to the Lions, i feel he will go now to the 49ers. They were impressed with Shaun Hill at the end of last season, but he put up just mediocre numbers for the Niners. Alex Smith was a bust and J.T O'Sullivan is a turnover machine. Stafford could finally be the franchise QB.

11th Overall Pick:

Selection: DE Michael Johnson, Georgia Tech

Pick stays the same here.

12th Overall Pick:

Selection: MLB Rey Maualuga, USC

Defense is a major problem, this should stay the same.

13th Overall Pick:

Selection: DT Peria Jerry, Mississippi

The Redskins need to upgrade both offense and defense lines. Most of the good OT are gone, and Eben Britton is too far of a reach here. The 'Skins could take B.J Raji here, but Ellis is a good pass rushing threat up the middle, and he'll get into the backfield a lot. The Redskins could definitely use someone to maul the QB's as Eli Manning and Tony Romo don't do well under pressure.

14th Overall Pick:

Selection: CB Vontae Davis, Illinois

Tracy Porter was coming on, so Davis may not be as great of a pick, but until the combine i don't see anyone else here.

15th Overall Pick:

Selection: DE/OLB Aaron Maybin, Penn State

Maybin is a great pass rushing prospect from either the DE or OLB position. Maybin uses his hands very well and is slippery getting off of blocks. Teams will be forced to pay some attention to him, allowing Mario Williams more of a chance to get to the QB.

16th Overall Pick:

Selection: HB Chris Wells, Ohio State

Damn, what are you talking about Yawkey they have L.T! Your point? LT was nothing more than average this season, and single handedly fucked over a lot of people's fantasy seasons. Wells is a stud running back with great speed and size. With Sproles most likely leaving, they will need another running back, and Wells could very well be better than L.T. Tomlinson could be catching a case of the Sean Alexander.

17th Overall Pick:

Selection: QB Mark Sanchez, USC

Sanchez is peaking at just the right time, and the Jets definitely need someone to step in for Brett Favre who seems to already be out of New York. I originally said Laurinitis, but now I think QB becomes a bigger need seeing as the depth is not there. If the Jets decide to wait for next season, look for them to go Knowshon Moreno or James Laurenitis.

18th Overall Pick:

Selection: WR Jeremy Maclin, Missouri

No changes here.

19th Overall Pick:

Selection: DT B.J Raji, Boston College

Originally had them going RB, but Gruden doesn't usually go RB and DT could be a big need for this team. The defense was good, and with another huge run stuffer the run d could be unstoppable. Raji is quick on his feet and plays with a good mean streak, something I bet Gruden would like.

20th Overall Pick:

Selection: MLB James Laurenitis, Ohio State

New coach Jim Schwartz chooses defense here, and strengthens a line backing core with Ohio State standout Laurenitis. He has a nose for the football and will make a lot of the plays for a defense that definitely could of used a force in the middle last season.

21st Overall Pick:

Selection: HB Knowshon Moreno, Georgia

Stays.

22nd Overall Pick:

Selection: S William Moore, Missouri

The Vikings pass defense was not great, and with Cedric Griffin unstable at the CB position, the Vikings could go there. But Moore has elite size and speed for a FS, and could take over right away.

23rd Overall Pick:

Selection: CB D.J Moore, Vanderbilt

No change.

24th Overall Pick:

Selection: OG Duke Robinson, Oklahoma

With both top DT gone, the Falcons will go offensive line here adding another mauler to open up holes for Michael Turner. Matt Ryan will also have more time, as he blossoms into an NFL star.

25th Overall Pick:

Selection: OLB Brian Cushing, USC

Cushing is another workout warrior, but he has been hampered down by injuries. He has the ability to drop back into coverage and run with the tight end, or rush the passer and he can stop the run. He is a prototypical Bill Parcells player.

26th Overall Pick:

Selection: WR Darrius Heyward-Bey

no change.

27th Overall Pick:

Selection: DT Sen'Derrick Marks, Auburn

no change.

28th Overall Pick:

Selection: TE Brandon Pettigrew, Oklahoma State

Pettigrew is one of the best prospects in the draft, and is a great steal for the Eagles. He's 6'8 and just as good as Jermaine Gresham. If tight end was a more profound position, you would see this guy go top 15.

29th Overall Pick:

Selection:WR Hakeem Nicks, North Carolina

The Giants continue to draft Wide Receivers every year, but they continue to not pan out. Sinorice Moss isn't doing much and Mario Manningham didn't find the field often this year. With Plax maybe out, Nicks is a great target for Eli to throw too.

30th Overall Pick:

Selection: WR Percy Harvin, Florida

No change.

31st Overall Pick:

Selection:OT Eben Britton, Arizona

Britton is a great pass protector, and has good size at 6'6 and 310lbs. He could use some tuning, but Britton could eventually blossom into a good tackle for the Eagles who could use offensive line help.

32nd Overall Pick:

Selection: C Max Unger, Oregon

Actually one of the steals of the draft, Unger is a great talent out or Oregon who can play the C position as well as the guards and even tackles if necessary. With the offensive line woes apparent, you have to believe the Steelers will go here.​

I believe the Eagles will move to 21st and the Cardinals will be 31
