Remember this when we all have to eventually pay for all of trophies/Cheevos/meaningless bullshit that makes us bitter about wasting our lives on digital media all the time.
You pay for the experience, not the right to shove it in everyone's face before you forget about your purchase and eventually delete it from your hard drive space.

Be that as it may, a standard was set this gen in which all games include some type of achievement system (except Nintendo consoles, but who cares about them, right?) And then when M$ has a policy in place that even keeps companies from releasing free content with any types, but has no problme allowing paid content without them? It sticks out like a sore thumb.
Yes, they do allow "free" games through PS+ or Free-to-Play stuff like DCUO but you still gotta pay for the service or pitch money in to get anything out of it.
Especially with re-upping service.
Goddamn monsters Microsoft are for having to earn profit and tricking people into thinking that there's something beyond decent story extension (of which is totally optional BTW) and more content.
Those bastards.Comment

I'm assuming Sony doesn't get a pass either for the multitude of games it also has on catalog without this standard achievement system, right?

If I'm understanding that jibberish correctly, Sony waiting a year and a half to implement trophies was bullshit, but once they made the decision EVERY game had to include them. As far as not allowing cheevos in free content, that is in fact a M$ policy. They also have a policy that states that companies can not release content on their precious service (Xbox Live) unless it contains the same exact content on other services (ie PSN). So even if Ubisoft wanted to, and I'm not saying they did, they would not be able to include trophies on the AC2 DLC on PS3 and not add cheevos on 360.
So, if anything, Ubisoft is to blame for that bullshit. I just brought up the M$ thing because it's quite the double standard.Comment

If you didn't try to act like an esteemed poet everytime you posted something I might have some inkling as to the point you were trying to make.

You might as well all your games if you're going to complain about a hobby that's completely optional in your life.
None of these companies give a fuck about us unless we give them money.
You know it and I know it and if you get this riled up about the equivalent of a set of invisible gold stars that you feel so damn entitled to, you're never gonna change.Comment

My bigger concern with the Assassins Creed DLC is not that it doesn't have achievements (which is dumb) but that the price is still so high and that's with it being on sale. When are companies going to start to lower the price of DLC years after the game comes out. I started to think about this and Enslaved DLC on the PS3 is one of the rare times that has happened.Comment

Pretty sure you got way more riled up than I ever did. I made an innoccuous comment regarding the lack of cheevos/trophies in AC2 DLC. It was something Buzzman pointed out and I commencted on. And as far as I know it is the ONLY paid content on either service that is like this. You then decided to respond with a diatribe of basically how if I didn't like it, I should just give up gaming and that M$ is just trying to make money. Quite a tangent.
There's gotta something other than hating on pricing structure that you could rail against though.

How would we itemize the chart? By specific thing that he rages about (this has potential since he's been bitching about the same shit since 2010), or do we go more general and just show periods of bitching, how they spike, and then specify why he was bitching about a those times? This could be useful for determining what season of Twigg bitching we're currently in.
That being said, back to random thoughts: jms, what does that mean? What do you do again?
Even more randomer thoughts: my new laptop came with a TB HDD, and in 3 or so days I have already filled a quarter of it.Comment

I'm at a point in The Witcher where combat against humans is a joke. I'm pretty sure I'm playing on hard, and I'm just slicing through Salamandra assassins like butter. I still run like a little girl when I come across a Kikimore Warrior in the swamp though.Comment

One of my regrets in gaming is never playing the Witcher series yet.Comment

True, but I think they could have balanced it a bit more considering you use different swords (and different sword skills) for humans and monsters. As it is right now, I barely have points assigned to steel sword skills, and I'm still wrecking massive groups of human enemies.Comment
