I am baffled that so many people are against getting rid of games. I agree that trading in at Gamestop is often not a good return, but it's better than having multiple shelves stuffed to the brim with shit you're never going to touch again.

Granted, I get more and more minamilist as I get older. Sold most of my books, all of my DVDs, and I cull my games once a year, down to basically the Mass Effect trilogy and Dragon Age: Origins. I really can't wait until consoles are 100% digital. I knew that I loved it before, I love it even more now with my new PC.

I wouldn't want to shave mine down to the bare minimum like that, but I definitely feel better about getting rid of 1/4 of my physical collection that was all crappy games and stuff that I would never even think about playing again. Feels good to have most everything I want day 1 this fall completely paid off.

I think that I just outgrew all facets of my "collecting" phase. Next step is getting rid of the 5 boxes of comic books that I have.

Did you trade in Remember Me? This conversation reminded me of it and how it is sitting on my shelf collecting dust. At one point I was actually going to go and 100% that game. It's fine, but I have very little desire to play it again.

I did. That was one that took me a little while to decide on. I definitely enjoyed the game, but when I really thought about it, if I get the desire for some platforming, I'll play Uncharted or Tomb Raider, and if I want some good hand-to-hand combat I'll throw in the Arkham games or Sleeping Dogs. I just didn't see myself really desiring a second playthrough.

If I were selling my good games (which I wont be doing), that's the route I would have gone. I doubt many people would be looking for the games I was selling, which is why I just took the easy way out and unloaded them all at once (35 individual games would have been a pain the ass anyways). Either way I was putting the money towards the fall gaming fund.

I even buy PC games on the disc, because I know I'll have to uninstall because I didn't get a huge hard drive with my laptop. But I would much rather own it, because if I get locked out of my XBL service like I just did, I lose all access to those digital games. Like I said, you can do what I do and just have a massive leather CD book to keep everything in, but I keep what I buy.

Huh...that's a bummer, man. But as far as your digital stuff, you shouldn't need to connect to play it as long as it's licensed to your system. My girlfriend can play any of my games under her name and either of us can play offline with no problem. 360 has always been about being attached to the system, regardless of who is signed in. If the stuff isn't licensed to your Xbox though, that's when it will register as a trial (if an Arcade game) or I guess not at all if it's a GoD game?

I now have GTA V paid off officially and Spelunky's in my digital library.

Probably two of the last games I'll be getting for the PS3 this year .

Spelunky demo whipping my ass is equivalent to a goddamn tickle fight compared to what the full version's doing to me right now.

EDIT:

I made it to 3-3 in the Ice Caves and I'm about to make it to 3-4 and possibly Olmec.

Then the unthinkable happens and somehow, Kali gets pissed at me (totally random other than the game was probably ready to end my little speed run then and there ) and decides I need a ball-and-chain wrapped to my ankle.

Two minutes later, I get jumped by a Yeti and fall to my death.

Worse off, after I helped the Tunnel Man through the end of the Mines, I never saw him again despite being on a Key Run and having the damn thing with me since 1-3.

No tunnel for me and I never saw the fucking end of the Mines since.

As of today, I'm ranked 1399th on PS3 with $63800, at 2-3 on Spelunky.

It's not Hell and it ain't the Ice Caves but I'm happy enough to be on the leaderboard.

RIP PS3. 5 years of Greatness. Either the disc drive is shot, HD is shot or my laser is shot. Either way not putting any cash into it.
