Been diving deep into Dark Souls again. Man, the game is such a fucker. Last night in Blighttown one of these little toxic blowdart assholes (who are as black as a shadow standing in an already poorly lit cave area where you have to pay attention to where you're walking -- no, not because of the dogs that breath fire and the crazy purple dudes that remind me of the Reapers from Firefly -- no, you have to pay attention because it's this rickety collection of platforms where a wrong roll or step can mean insta-death) was shooting at me and I was sprinting in any direciton I could just to buy myself enough time to figure out where the damn things were coming from. Run into crazy fire breathing flying spider beast, shout in surprise (see also: kind of like a girl), terrify dog, cat and girlfriend. Catch a face full of fire, turn, club to the face from chasing Reaper monster, roll, use Estes, get clubbed, roll, fall, somehow survive, now facing another spider beast, roll out of the way into poison water, get poisoned, get caught on fire again by chasting spider beast, then finally stung to death by a flying red wasp that shoots an exploding cloud of blood from its stinger.

Back to the bonfire to try and somehow make my way back through that shitstorm again to try and recover.

Just fired up Portal 2 for the first time tonight. It's great to be able to play a game that makes you think, and at the same time you don't have to kill hundreds of people. Loving the puzzles so far. Such a great feeling when you feel so lost on a room, but after sitting there and thinking you finally find the answer. Quite addicting as well.

So, fun story: The store that I usually buy my PS1/PS2/Xbox games at was having a sale a couple weekends ago. That's usually when I go grab a few things b/c they have good deals like B2G1 or something along the lines. Well this time they were doing prize giveaways for people who spent $50 or more. So I bought a handful of things and got my name in. Didn't expect a thing b/c I never win anything like that. Well they had giveaways like games, comics, movies and consoles. Well I got a call on Monday saying that my name had been chosen. What did I win you ask? A won a Wii U console. I poop you not. Pretty much the coolest thing I've ever won.

So after that, I picked up New Super Mario Bros. U on the cheap (only game I have for it so far besides the packaged in Nintendo Land). Been playing that for the past few days as well. The game looks great. It's nice to see all of those SMB worlds in high def and nice popping colors. Some really cool levels I've come across so far too. I've finished the first two worlds (there's eight I think), and I'm halfway through a third one. So that's been pretty fun. Haven't played much Nintendo in a lot of years, but I'm definitely enjoying some Mario.

i recently began a new character. all magic. nothing else. seems a bit easier overall than doing melee but it does get a bit tricky when your facing fast enemies and you're sitting there trying to get a spell off.

I couldn't get past the limited number of magic uses early on in Dark Souls. But I imagine if you get over that hump it would get much easier. I found Demon's Souls to be borederline easy with the Royal and plenty of whatever that moss was that refilled your mana. I'm assuming that that's why they changed it up for Dark Souls.

After all those playthroughs on ME2 before and I had forgotten how stupidly OP biotics were in the game.

Running an Adept with Jack and Jacob in-tow in the early game (I picked up Jack first thing and then flew over to get Grunt, which I'm in the process of doing now) is insane.

It's three squishy targets versus a lot of shielded/armored enemies but I'm packing Warp/Pull/Throw while Jacob's lighting people on fire and Jack's launch people twenty stories up.

                  Shit's magical.

Been listening to the Weekend Confirmed podcast from ShackNews. I recommend it. It is pretty much strictly video games with some NFL talk at the end. I like the guys. Garnett Lee (can be a bitch) and Jeff Canatta are the 2 main guys and they have guests on each week.

Nice! I'll be really curious as to your thoughts on Gone Home. It's only about 3 hours if you really get everything out of it, and while pretty universally loved, there seems to be a significant, and loud, sect of people that really dislike it.

                              The Stanley Parable =

I loved it. Got like 5 of the endings last night, with two in particular that were just crazy.
