I think so. Those comments were taken from a majority consensus I read on the killzone forums (save for the KZ loverboys who said everything was perfect)

for me it wasn't that bad online as everything seemed responsive except for when you have to strafe right or left as it just seems their is a pause before you actually get going.

in regards to my wonky controls comment I'm talking about all the actions like shooting and aiming and throwing a grenade. Whenever you enter an action it feels slightly unnatural, both how long the animation goes and the speed of how it occurs. and imo the shooting is bleh for me as it feels like your holding a brick but as soon as you start firing it turns into a light piece of sponge that you can maneuver wherever pretty fast.

        Some reviews:

        Gamespot - 8.5

In some ways, Killzone 3 is a step forward. Set-piece battles will be drilled into your brain for some time after you experience them. There's more variety in both the environments and the action, and the game is better off for this diversity. On the other hand, the excruciating story's tendency to intrude just when the action intensifies has an adverse effect on the pacing. The competitive multiplayer isn't hampered by such infantile excess, focusing instead on what the shooter does best: delivering solid action in a visually dazzling context. Killzone 3 isn't the game it could have been, but when it comes to capturing the madness of larger-than-life planetside battles, few games do it better.
        The Good
        • Core shooting action is weighty and satisfying
        • Campaign is filled with interesting set-piece battles
        • Terrific maps make competitive play an absolute blast
        • More environmental and gameplay variety than before
        • Astonishing visuals.

        The Bad
        • The story is awful
        • Co-op play is local only and is hampered by frame rate problems
        • Not all changes to the online multiplayer are for the better.
        Eurogamer - 8

Fans of Killzone 2 will love the improved multiplayer, but may find that the single-player side of things has lost a lot of its identity. It's always polished and breathlessly paced, but it no longer offers a distinct change of pace from the rest of the shooter herd. Killzone 3 is a powerful, impressive game that sets an imposing standard for Sony's 3D, Move-enabled future output; it's just a shame that in doing so, it's lost just a little of what made the series stand out in the first place.
        IGN - 8.5

Along with its fun multiplayer, Killzone 3 is so enjoyable because it’s not just a shooter, it’s an experience. Guerilla has crafted scene after gorgeous scene that made me feel like you’re a part of a brutal, human war that is somehow fantastic in setting but also eerily reminiscent of the wars we see on TV. Combine this with the superb pacing and you have a campaign that’s totally fun despite its boring characters and uninspired story. This may not be the best game on the PS3, but it’s a fantastic option for shooter fans, and the type of title that non-PS3 owners are sure to envy.
        1UP - B+

And even though the game's overall single-player campaign wasn't as memorable or as consistent of an experience as I was expecting it to be, the game's robust multiplayer modes more than make up for those disappointments. It's definitely one of the better multiplayer games available on PlayStation 3 and easily one of the best-looking games available to console gamers today.
        G4 - 4/5

        The Pros
        • Improved shooting and overall feel
        • PlayStation Move works wonderfully
        • Great variety of environments and enemy encounters

        The Cons
        • Inconsistent campaign quality
        • Plot holes aplenty
        • No online co-op
        • Clumsy reload and melee gestures with Move
        Joystiq - 3.5/5

The feature set of Killzone 3 is impressive: 3D support, PlayStation Move compatibility, split-screen offline co-op campaign, and offline multiplayer with bots, but no amount of 3D waggle can change the fact that the Killzone 3 campaign is a miserable experience. Killzone 3 certainly offers more bells and whistles than its predecessor -- it's just a shame they've been affixed to an inferior game.
        Gametrailers - 9.4

I love how Gamespot talks about how inconsistent the pacing is on the campaign yet IGN praises it.

It seems like everyone is down on the campaign which is a bummer for me because I'm a single player guy. Although the story in most shooters is absolutely terrible. That doesn't mean the action won't be amazing.

A 7/10 from Joystiq seems a bit laughable though. I'm not too surprised though. Unless it's Griffin (definitely not Justin McElroy or Ludwig talking about or reviewing a ps3 game it's probably not going to be talked about very highly.

Killzone 3 Campaign 4.5 Hours Long - Proof

The reviewer's campaign completion screens (below) show that the time is accurate, with a first run-through completed on the normal difficulty setting - as displayed on the screens.
“Killzone 3's campaign can be completed in 4.5 hours...”
The reviewer completed each chapter in the following times:
              A New Beginning - 6:44
              Evacuation Orders - 21:23
              Pyrrhus Evac - 33:18
              Six Months On - 36:39
              Icy Incursion - 50:59
              Stahl Arms Infiltration - 29:03
              Scrapyard Shortcut - 34:43
              The Reckoning - 33:17
              Interception - 27:18
That makes a grand total of four hours, 33 minutes and 40 seconds of campaign gameplay. As noted by the BBFC, Killzone 3 also includes 70 minutes of cut scenes, which would bring the full campaign experience up to five hours and 40 minutes.

From an experienced KZ gamer? That would mean about 8 hours for me...lol.

pre-ordered using Gamestop's extra 50% credit on trade in value ponzi scheme.

looking forward to it and if it disapoints I can trade it in for 95% of the value within a week. since the campaign is 5 hours long, shouldn't be a problem!

A crazy gamer such as myself can put away a huge game like Mass Effect 2 within 3-5 days tops playing nonstop...

5 hours for a supposed "Killer App" game?

I can kill that within a day or less.

After I finish DLing this Beta Demo, I pray that I see a reason for MP FPS players to drop COD: Black Ops other than the glitches/bugs (for all it's faults, COD gets you and all your buddies to buy a game and be on the same page as to what you want in the purchase... e-shooting your friends at all hours of the night while having a fun time doing it).

How long does it usually take to get into a game? I've been stuck on this connecting screen for at least five minutes listening to two douchbags talking shit to each other.

EDIT: After waiting for over 10 minutes, the game froze. Then both Jay and I got kicked after getting to the load screen. Not looking good.

Lobby system for this is GARBAGE.

I get that them releasing the Beta to the public was going to result in total server failure (too many log-ins with shitty connections) but dammit...

Can a brotha get a DM going without staring at a load screen for an hour BEFORE getting booted?

Downloaded, I'll try it tomorrow. I liked the first one (multiplayer, didn't play the campaign), but I didn't love it.

                          I'll report tomorrow.

I finally got to play some games tonight. I have to say I enjoyed myself. I found it to be a nice change of pace shooter. Don't know if it's a must buy though.
