Um...pretty sure that that is what they did for the PS3 ME2...it's just an opportunity for those that haven't played the series to make some of the more serious choices and see the outcomes.

No reason at all to forget about the previous games. The best part about the series is that some of the decisions I made in the first will still be showing in the third (even if it is the tiniest example -- in fact, a lot of times those are the best).

something of note is that ME3 will have like a graphic novel intro where you can make your own choices. when I saw that, I retired ME2, but not before dropping 100 hours into it and accepting it as one of the top 10 games ive ever played.

really looking forward to ME3 to say the least.

Like Seth said, it's a way to bring new players up to speed. You'll still be able to import your previous Shepard.

It is a decent game, but it was so overblown as this end all be all game and I was super underwhelmed by it. ME3 is going even further away from the RPG aspect to pretty much being Gears of War with tactical team choices.

I get that, but its kind of daunting to have to go back through the first two games to build a new shepard. I didnt play the first one, I didnt like it too much, and my 10 year old cousin could optimize code better than that game. it ran like dogshit on my machine, worse than ME2 did.

moving away from the RPG elements is what made it better. the RPG elements were little more than built in tediousness in the first one, if you play it on the hardest difficulty levels, its just as "pause and be tactical" as the first game, except without having to spend 30 minutes in your inventory after clearing a section, and the ability to steamroll easy opponents without having to pause and micro everything. The writing was also significantly better, the game had better pacing, and far superior voice acting.
