I have a companion that I decked out in Dwarves armor and she carries an elf axe now. She's pretty tough. I'm a mage-theif, and conjure a spectral wolf and a hot fire stripper to fight for me as well. I also raise the dead from time to time, all the while wielding my Wabbajack and smacking shit and healing my companion.

I'll just say check around Solitaire. And it's not a wolf wolf but like a wolf apparition. Nonetheless it helps you fight and it's badass. So your companion basically doesn't die.

I dropped a bunch of shit next to the Jarl in whiterun, came back about 5 days later and everything was still there. I suggest drop it somewhere you can "fast travel" to.

Well....4 hours later and it felt like 10. This game is pretty f'ing epic. Best "blind" purchase I've ever made and all thanks goes to you guys. Now granted, in that 4 hours I did alot of searching around and what not, joined the Companions. Question bout that, if I don't like how that goes, could I leave and try out a different group (or can you do that regardless)?

You can be in every single group if you choose, the only way I think you'd be left out of a group is if you picked to join the Storm Cloaks, I don't think the Empire would be cheery about that. *That's just an assumption as I haven't gotten that far to choose the side, although I am sure about the groups such as the Companions, Thieves Guild, Mage's Guild, ect.

Loving this game. And not fast traveling is a bitch so far but REAL REAL fun with all the random encounters and exploring.

Found myself wandering off into "Skyrim thought" at a real good Gonzaga basketball game tonight.

Also what is everyone doing with the dragon scales and dragon bones you get from killing a dragon? They are extremely heavy.

And is it worth buying a house??

It is faster than walking. I've almost been to every major city so I've been fast traveling to the cities and then using my horse to get to the quests.
