If that is the elf blood one it was pretty easy or maybe I was lucky to come across all the different elves so quickly.

The game seems to be pretty open to what race you choose, in regard to how you develop your character. The different races start with advantages in given areas, but they don't really seem to restrict things too much. The advantages aren't huge - 5 or 10 points in given skills, plus the in-born skills for that particular race.

Yeah it's nearly irrelevant which race you choose, just go into character creation at the beginning and come up with something you like.

I was gonna be redguard but chose dark elf instead.

the races are not too important but they do have special traits that increase certain skills, resistances, etc......

how relavent that is toward the end of the game, i am not quite sure. i have a long way to go...
