Had some time to play yesterday, between watching my two favorite sports franchises lose... At least Skyrim gave me something fun and entertaining.

Went after a dragon on a mountain peak for a bounty and managed to sneak up on it. Got to the top of the tower and it was perched on the edge, with its head sitting on the tower roof, so for a second I thought it was some giant gargoye. Decide to sneak attack it anyway and got a 6x bonus. Couldn't one-strike kill it but still cool.

Went after another dragon for the same reason. It saw me coming, flew away, landed away from me and I took it down to about 1/5 life left with a few arrows. It takes off, swoops around, and I thought it landed on the path up the mountain to the peak. But then it comes sliding up the path toward me, on the ground. Wasn't sure what to think. It still had the same amount of life left, so I loosed an arrow to take care of that. I figured it had to be some kind of game glitch, but then I saw that the ground was all torn up where it had landed and slid up the path. So it definitely crashed and slid. No idea why but that was kinda awesome.

I hadn't played in a while, so I fired it up the other day. I ended up getting put in fucking jail in some city..had to fist fight some ogre while I was in there. As we break out of the prison and city, everyone from the group splits up. I follow the lead guy, and he takes off running up some mountain..and a dragon appears and FUCKING EATS HIM. It charges me (with the dudes arm still hanging from its fucking mouth), and starts shooting ice at me. I pause and save real quick since I hadn't saved in about 2 hours(real time). I unpause and I'm dead. Now it keeps bringing me back to getting my face blasted with ice (thats what she said)..I'm screwed.

^ you dont have any autosaves before that? i had a somewhat similar situation happen. i fought a dragon and barely came out alive and saved immediately. after i saved another dragon was right there and roasted me and i was fucked everytime i loaded up that save. so i had to go back to an older autosave

regarding the end of the companions questline...

should i keep the ability to become a werewolf or cure it? i know once you cure it theres no way to get it back... wondering if its worth it to keep it or if it doesn't really serve a purpose

The primary advantage, to me, is that you don't get poisoned or catch diseases. That's handy. Plus the ability to turn into an 8-foot flesh-ripping death machine when needed. But really, I find the first handier.

The only real downside is that you can't get the fully rested bonus. Not really an issue to me.

thanks for the answer. i was planning on keeping it but was wondering if there was a good reason i shouldnt

edit - goddammit the second to last mission is near dawnstar and ive been no place close to that. i really need just to walk around the map and get to all these places so i can fast travel when i need to. 40 hours in and the only "major" cities ive been to are whiterun, riften, and markath... at this pace ill be playing this game till next year. i refuse to use a carriage cause that shit is weak sauce and you miss out on so much.

I've been a werewolf since 2 game days into playing. So much better than turning into a gay ass vampire.

Dawnstar is one of the holds you can get to by hiring a carriage. The major holds all have stables and there should be a horse-drawn cart nearby. They will take you to major holds and bigger minor ones even if you haven't visited them. Costs you 25 or 50 gold. Saves a long stroll.

Although that long stroll counts as adventuring, and as long as you don't take an arrow in the knee, that kicks ass.

being a vampire is badass for being a stealther, 25% boost to sneak and to illusion - illusion being a school that might as well be called "magic for stealthers" - makes you pretty much a god very early.

that being said, it is kind of fucking annoying especially if you dont invest in shops and have to map travel alot, to be constantly looking to feed, and the blur effect when you inevitably map travel and get someplace during the day gives me a headache pretty quick :P

I had taken a pretty extended break from this (due to the massive amount of lag/freezing), and started playing again the other day. I had already finished the main quest, so now I'm finishing up the Thieve's Guild and Dark Brotherhood quests.

They're both better than the main story, IMHO. Especially the Thieve's guild.

I'm probably going to grind out the rest of the trophies, I think I have like 10 left to get, then pack this one away until DLC time. I'm so hideously overpowered that I've completely gone back to square one (at level 46), using shields, archery, sneaking...

My "off the top of my head" specs:
                        Artos
                        Level 46 Breton
                        100 smithing, enchanting, one handed
                        70 lockpicking
                        89 Destruction
                        65 conjuration
                        90 speech
                        75 illusion (thanks, muffle!)
30 archery, light armor, sneak, block
                        18 2 handed

I was rolling a one handed battle mage for pretty much the whole game. My daedric sword, Coldfire (135 damage, 50 pts cold damage, 50 points fire damage) in one hand, Ice Spear in the other....after conjuring my frost atronach. I just changed armor after about 40 hours using double enchanted daedric armor (my armor rating was near 600) to dragon scale armor and the Nahkriin dragon priest mask (+50 Magicka, -20% Restoration and Destruction Magicka cost.)

I've been using the Conjure Battleaxe a lot lately, trying to get my 2 handed up (leveling up those lower levels makes you level up faster)

So the game fucked me over. I did a side quest for the companions after completing the last main quest for them and I think the guy who trains in heavy armor or 2 handed weapons I did a side quest for one for one of them and he asked me to go back to the temple and use a witch head on him. So I do that and he say's he's gonna stay in the temple and look around it for a little while. So I say fuck that and I don't have a follower and I tell him to follow me. I leave the temple not noticing he's not following me I head to whiterun and notice I have no follower. I head back to the temple and look all around for this fucker and he's not there I head back to whiterun and try to get another follower and everytime I ask someone to follow me they say I already have a follower and I don't unless he's invisible. I checked in my house in whiterun and he's not there he's not at the companions he's not at the temple so idk what to do I think i'm gonna be playing this game without a follower now.
