Agreed. I'm still not sure how it was getting 9's in the review scores. The gameplay and the idea is pretty good, but the complete lack or story or characters just makes this game completely boring.

I still have to play it but sometimes I feel that games journalists, because a lot of them are fucking hipsters, just like something because it's cool to like it. Usually a few of them like it because it's something new and different and because it's flying under the radar like this game. Then they chat with their industry friends and all come to a consensus that it's the best thing since sliced bread.

I love listening to the old Games Radar/Talk Radar guys now on the Laser Time podcast, but man if they all don't fall into that mold. Whether it's games, movies, books, whatever. They will nitpick the shit out of more popular stuff but the "industry darlings: if you will, always seem to get heaping amounts of praise.

It sucks b/c the game would be pretty damn good if it just had some sort of decent story. I mean, what's the point in going around assassinating people if there's no emotional trigger behind it? I guess that's part of the reason why I love the AC games so much, it has a great story.

I'm enjoying it so far, it does have the opposite problem as assassin's creed. The assassinations are all fresh and original in dishonored, but there isn't much story behind them except a quick word or two on the way to the hit. And while assassin's creed has a fantastic story(the story was the entire reason I played the last two and will play the next one.) But the assassinations and combat get old pretty quickly. There aren't a ton of options when it comes to taking out a target.

all the reviews i read said the story was lacking, so its not like this was ignored. i dont think its boring because the gameplay is alot of fun. There is something that is lacking from this game though. there is nothing that sucks me in and makes me want to play...maybe its cause there is nothing to feel for the characters due to the lack of story...idk, but its missing something

I rented this game, and beat it and got all 3 endings in two days. Fun game but i would have been pissed if i'd dropped $60 bucks on it.

It's not bad. It started to be a bit of a grind for me, but that is in part because I was trying to play it without killing anyone. It just really started to drag in the final parts, mostly because of the aforementioned lack of a good story or interesting characters. But yeah, definitely not worth $60 IMO. Not a ton in terms of replay.
