yeah, i know they scale...how is that not common knowledge?

It's not if you're coming into the game fresh or haven't played any like Action-RPG before.

which is why alot of people will be disappointed regardless of when you use a key....even if you wait until you are at the level cap you may still get the same crap, just scaled to your level

thank for emphasizing the point i was making...but to further the point....how are people gonna feel when they get a class mod for a class they dont even use?

The Key use is for if you don't feel like going through the dungeons to get said same crap.

It's the equivalent of a Warp Whistle but you don't go anywhere.

As for the Emphasizing, I'm basing my comments on the early Loot you've posted.

If you can't use the stuff you get, you'd either sullenly give it to a teammate or sell it.

Maybe it's because Jay is a loot whore, but I haven't seen much of anything close to what's in those pictures from regular loot drops at level 19, and I've only come across relics once so far.

I'm actually sharing more.

Those that haven't had much luck getting extra keys from Randy but have some available and would like to use them, you can always do this:


- Copy your Borderlands Profile Data (NOT your character) onto a USB

- Load up the game, use your Golden Keys

- Hit the start button, save and quit.

- Exit the game to the XMB

- Head to the USB file, copy that profile data back onto the PS3 and your Golden Keys restore along with the guns you picked up.



Rinse & repeat


NOTE: If you decide to continue the story (or side missions) don't forget to repeat step 5 and whatever Badass points you rack up progressing through the game, repeat step 1 when you're done. (Badass and Golden Keys are both tied to the Profile Data)

i have not seen anything like this in the game either. I did get 2 purple items both of which i posted and they are solid for where i was in the game....but nothing like the stuff u would expect from the loot chest

The only point i was really making...well 2 things really....i have the pc cheat and thought it would nice for people to see the potential loot that can be had and to let people decide if its worth waiting for. Obviously you want the higher level stuff, but my 2nd point was that if people wait they may be very upset by what they get.

People want guns with badass abilities...not some pussy hand gun with no powers. Who really wants a sheild, relic, grenade or class mod? sure you will get use out of it, but is that really what you want to see?

in 40 keys that generated 80 items i got 10 quality items that i kept. thats not exactly a good ratio even if the stuff is scaled to level 51

to be fair i decided to post the 10 things i kept...they are pretty sweet...but ia m planning on going back to my save before this cheat cause it makes looting pointless now.

That's still probably a better chest-to-primo-loot ratio than what you'd go through during the course of a playthrough. If the first Borderlands is any indication, you won't get consistently good loot drops until you get close to the level cap or hit playthrough 2.5. It's so easy to simply out-level the enemies after the first areas that you'll rarely get anything that blows you away.

I'll probably try to farm the Crawmerax-like enemy when we get there to get some good loot.
