No one else is turned off of this? It looks like a higher-quality Lost Planet. It doesn't look bad by any means, it is just not even close to the same kind of game as the first one, and even the second one didn't stray that far from the original mechanics. A huge chunk of the demo is cover-based bullet spraying. I can't say I'm surprised at all since I'm sure they'll sell more games, but my interest in the franchise has plummeted.

The co-op fundamentally changes the experience, and I find myself holding out that the devs are honest when they say that you can experience the game by yourself with as much atmosphere as the previous titles. I'd hate to see this go the way of the Resident Evil series where they almost completely abandon the survival horror aspect in favor of a blockbuster action movie feel.

I hope that you're right, but all signs seem to point that they're going the RE direction. Even if the single player has more atmosphere than co-op, they still made it a point in the first details that there's cover-based shooting, there's people shooting back at you now, there's universal ammo, and that there will flat-out be more ammo. I'm sure there will still be some jump-scares and creepy hallways and stuff, but the vulnerable feeling that defines survival horror is all but gone.

Bottom line with this game, the demo was gross, the gameplay looks gross, and the trailer was gross. So it must be a piece of shit. Thats the only thing that makes sense.

I though that the demo looked great but hadn't read anything about the game. The more I read, the more worried I get.

Cant believe I slept on this game, looks badass. They have DS 2 in the stores over here, but not 1. I would have to buy it from Amazon. I shouldn't skip DS 1 should I (dumb question probably)?

No you should not! Both are awesome games.

Those screenies that Med posted look sick.
