LEGO City does look pretty fucking awesome. But how long before it bombs on this console and they bring it to 360/PS3?

Wouldn't be shock to get a 360/PS3 port a few months after its released so they can make up for the poor sales on the Wii U.

New figures have come to light that show that Wii U software sales during January were worse than PlayStation Vita software sales. The Wii U only managed to sell 34,000 games (this includes bundled Nintendo Land), while the PlayStation Vita sold 46,000 software units. The Xbox 360 sold the most software in the UK, with 810,000 sold. The PlayStation 3 followed closely behind with 545,000 pieces of software sold. The Nintendo 3DS sold less software than Wii and Nintendo DS in January. Here’s the figures.

When the WiiU came out, my feeling was graphically it was just catching up to the PS3 and 360 with a small TV sized controller that I didn't want to learn how to use.

And then they release a system that plays proprietary discs and not Blu-Ray. Really? Really?

Even Microsoft has given up that fight. If you want a true multimedia gaming system, let us pop our DVDs and Blu-Rays in the machine to watch our TV shows and movies.

Nobody had any desire to buy this when all they did was re-release games that had been out for a year or so for the other consoles. For me, the true test to see if I actually want this console or not will be when these new handful of first party games start to drop. Even then, I highly doubt I'll budge (especially with two other consoles to buy later this year).

Honestly Swarley, I get Nintendo being arrogant about their Mario videogames and what-not, but whoever thought the WiiU would win over fans baffles me. Even the Wii, while revolutionary, didn't get it done.
Had Nintendo released the Wii as a 720p or 1080i console, Nintendo would still be in the game.

Wait, they are using proprietry discs? Interesting, because it wasn't that long ago all the Xbox defnders said that couldn't be done. It was either bluray (which they would never do) or stick with dvd.

I do not care about console wars. I have a ps3 and 360. Both systems are nice. As a gaming system, I give the 360 a bit of an edge .... as an all-round system (gaming, multimedia) I give my ps3 the edge.

I wish Nintedo would just go to software as well but I just don't see that ever happening. They've been in the console business (home and portable) since 1985.

Japanese weekly Wii U sales fall below Vita's for the first time, Nintendo's new console outsold by PlayStation 3 two-to-one.

Japanese weekly Wii U hardware sales have fallen below PlayStation Vita's for the first time.


Wii U sold 9633 units in Japan last week, according to number-cruncher Media Create (via NeoGAF). Vita sold 11,456 units - the handheld's highest weekly tally for some time. The bump is probably due to some stores acting early on the recently announced Japanese price drop.


That discount isn't supposed to go into effect until tomorrow, so expect Vita numbers to be higher again next week.


By comparison, PlayStation 3 sold nearly double - 18,529 - what Wii U managed. And as in other weeks, 3DS was miles ahead of everything with 74,729 sales.


Why are Wii U figures so low? As with Europe and the US, Japan also lacks new Wii U games. This week did see the launch of arcade shooter Tank! Tank! Tank!, but it could only muster 13th place.


It doesn't help Nintendo's cause that high profile Wii U games Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101 and Wii Fit U are still without a release date.

I should also note that it seems like more people in the gaming industry think Nintendo could end up going the way of Sega very soon.
