I haven't heard much about the Wii U since launch. How are sales for this thing?

After BlackFriday Nintendo cclaimed to have sold 400k, but I have a feeling those weren't sold through numbers, as in in hey were just "sold" to retailers and not to consumers. I was just in Best Buy and Walmart and they both had them in stock.Comment

I can't recall seeing too many buying the Wii U on black Friday, PS3's and 360's were selling very well.Comment

Wii U, IMO, is Nintendo's 360/Ps3 answer. The WiiU is absolutely dead the second ps4 or 720 drop. Frankly, it's dead already. As others have already said ... no one takes a game system that puts kids first seriously. My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

I don't think its that exactly but more of that they haven't really given a reason why you need to buy this console. Unless you're a Nintendo die hard it just seems rather pointless seeing how you can get a 360 or PS3 at a cheaper price then the Wii U.Comment

Honestly, I look at the WiiU and see it as trying to be as good as the ps3 or 360 ... and the only advantage it has is that goofy controller. My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

I remember going in different stores down here about a week before Christmas and they all had a ton in stock. Doesn't seem like it's selling well...I almost bought one, but asked myself why, since I've had my Wii for 4 years and have probably played a total of 20 hours on it over that entire time. I just think it costs too much compared to the alternatives and the displays in stores don't exactly sell it well either, at least in my area.Comment

According to VGChartz (unofficial, I know), the WiiU is barely outselling the Wii. Both combined don't even outsell the 360. It's doing well in Japan, but flopping everywhere else.Comment

Either way, I think that consumers have seriously wised up this go around. They had fun with their Wiis intiially but it wore off quick. Couple that with the fact that the WiiU is basically a 360/PS3 and people are realizing they would rather just wait until the next MS and/or Sony consoles next year.
I would also like to seriously punch Reggie Fils Aime in the face after flat out lying and saying the WiiU versions of games (Assassin's Creed, Batman, CoD, etc) are better on his console. That's like MS having their "Better With Kinect" slogan on their game boxes.Comment

In a reassuring segment of today's Wii U Direct, Satoru Iwata announced — in name if not footage — games that will be playing a bigger role later this year. One of these was a new Mario Kart entry, currently in development and, most importantly, planned to be playable at this year's E3.
With an over-riding message of the broadcast being "the games are coming", this is hardly a surprise. As it'll be playable this summer, and as Mario Kart is arguably easier and quicker to develop than some other titles, we'd certainly speculate that this could be a solid potential release for the Holiday season. Perhaps not, but among the various announced franchises, this seems like a safe bet.Comment

Nintendo pretty much announced a bunch of crap only die hard fans will care about more Zelda crap, a couple more re-re-releases of Mario games and other shit I doubt anyone on here gives a shit about. It'll be interesting to see how the sales are for this console in the coming months.Comment
