Project CARS – Solo Play Features Revealed
Originally posted by Virtual RSlightly Mad Studios has revealed details on Project CARS’ solo play features, giving an insight on what game modes players can expect.
Aside from the game’s cornerstone career mode and extensive online play, Project CARS will give players various opportunities to hit the track whenever and how they please.
Single player options range from the traditional practice mode that allows players to pick any track and car for a test drive to the extensive Quick Race Weekends.
Quick Race Weekends can be created in every racing format Project CARS offers, from karting to sprint racing and fully fledged endurance events. The race weekends are fully customizable as players can choose the exact weather conditions they please (or use real-time weather from the chosen racing location), choose the sessions they want to run and even time accelerate everything to fit a full 24h race with day & night transitions into a single hour.
The whole Quick Race Weekends feature works in online mode as will, allowing the setup of comprehensive multiplayer events with specified rules.
Once at the track, players can use Project CARS extensive car setup & pit strategy options to add even more realism to the race weekend as all aspects of the car’s setup and the pit strategy within the race are fully tweak-able.
And just in case someone might get lost in all the options, former Stig Ben Collins will offer guidance via Project CARS’ pit 2 car radio feature that consists of more than 600 different audio files that have been recorded by the professional World Endurance Championship race car driver.Comment

I want this game soooooo bad. Why can't it be November already.
I can't help it, I think about this game 24/7 and what would be cool to do league wise with the people we have now and also what would be cool if we had a full 16 people or something. Soooo many ideas churning in my head b/c this game looks so damn great.

My dream series:
This would have to require like a full 16 drivers, or however many players this game is going to support on consoles.
I'd love to do a two class series. DTM for the upper class - they have the Mercedes-Benz DTM car, which is the same specs as the BMW in the last Forza DLC pack. Since they have the BMW and Audi licenses, I'm hoping they add those two as well. But yeah, that'd be my top class of cars. The bottom class would be GT3. The variety of GT3 cars they have is insane. This would make it basically a clone of the Super GT series that they run in Japan. But again, to run a multi-class series, you'd need a larger number of people than we have so the classes don't feel empty.
Now, a series that could be worked up similar to what we're doing in Apex now:
Run an 8-10 week schedule. We'd kind of do what we're doing now with alternating between spec and trying out different cars every other week. But in this, for say odd numbered weeks, we'd run a different class of cars each race night, say GT4 for week 1, DTM for week 3, BTCC for week 5, road cars for week 7, etc. Then on the even numbered weeks we'd run structured GT3 races each time. Everyone would pick a GT3 car at the beginning of the season and one of the pre-made liveries and you'd stick tho that car throughout the GT3 portion of the schedule. For each race night we'd run 2 or 3 races of varying lengths on the same circuit, maybe alternating different layouts for that circuit. They even have team liveries, so we could maybe even do something with that as well.
Yeah, I probably think about this game way too much lol.Last edited by Swarley; 05-12-2014, 06:13 PM.Comment

I enjoyed the enduros we did in Forza 4. Doing something similar here would be cool, and I think sticking with the same car/class for a whole season for that leg of the series would be beneficial. People can develop their car over the course of the season instead of getting a new set of cars for each enduro night. Also something that I think would make the nights better is focusing on one track and not doing two enduros. Say week 1 for GT3 was Watkins Glen, we'd run 1 or 2 sprint races, maybe doing different track layouts, then we'd finish up with a longer enduro type race on the full layout that includes pit stops and maybe even a day/night cycle.
Plus leaving it as an every other week thing like we did in Forza 4 and we do now with spec nights will be beneficial to the guy that also really enjoy trying out new things every week. We can continue to run a slew of short sprint races with different cars every other week as well. Leaves fans of both styles pretty happy.
And the fact that we have a fantastic list of GT3 cars should make it pretty awesome:
• 2013 Ginetta G55 GT3 - Available to drive
• 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 - Available to drive
• 2013 McLaren 12C GT3 - Available to drive
• 2012 BMW Z4 GT3 - Available to drive
• 2013 Nissan GTR GT3 (Unconfirmed)
• 2012 BMW M3 E92 GT - Available to drive
• 2013 Bentley Continental GT3
• 2013 Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3 - Available to drive
• 2013 RUF RGT-8 GT3 - (In development)Last edited by Swarley; 05-13-2014, 12:08 PM.Comment

EXPERIENCE THE INDIANAPOLIS 500 IN PROJECT CARS
Slightly Mad Studios is very excited to announce a major new addition to Project CARS as the world-renowned Indianapolis 500 will be featured in the WMD-powered racing title.
First held in 1911, the Indianapolis 500 is the world’s longest-running motor race and one of sport’s major spectacles. Each year, 33 drivers compete for their place in victory lane, racing 200 laps in high-powered open wheelers, always inches apart from threatening concrete walls.
The Indy 500 is one of racing’s marquee events, being watched by a worldwide tv audience and more than 300.000 spectators trackside, making the Indy 500 the world’s biggest single-day sporting event.
Being the cornerstone of each IndyCar Series season, the Indy 500 takes places on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Commonly referred to as the “Brickyard”, Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a 2.5 mile Superspeedway track that offers both the oval configuration used for the Indy 500 as well as an infield road course.
Players will be able to experience the thrill of driving a 700hp open-wheeler inside the world’s most famous oval as Project CARS will feature a true to life virtual version of the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway venue. Aside from offering an exciting place for action-packed multiplayer races and quick race events, the Indy 500 will also become a integral part of Project CARS’ career mode.
To go along with the track, players will be given access to all cars and drivers of the 2015 IndyCar Series season, featuring the series’ Dallara-built DW12 open wheeler. Powered by 2.2l V6 turbo-charged engines from different manufacturers, the DW12 is used by all IndyCar teams in various configurations for both oval and road-racing.
As Project CARS strives to provide the most authentic racing experience possible, all aspects of modern American open wheel racing will be accurately featured within the game, including asymmetrical setups, the IndyCar Series’ push to pass feature as well as proper oval racing rules.
Project CARS will be coming to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Steam OS, WiiU & PC, starting November 2014.Comment
