With the Street Stock the bottom line is the best in the turns.

I'd say go for it when the series comes back to that track next week. The field gets spread out pretty quick. It's not too tough.

Ran some laps at Barber Motorsports Park for the first time tonight. It was one of the three tracks I purchased and it's this week's track for the Global Challenge. Man, the first few laps here were fucking tough lol. So many blind corners due to elevation change. But now that I know the track layout, it's a pretty fun little course. Gotta be careful and keep the steering and gas inputs smooth b/c the car can get a little light coming up over those hills. I definitely need some more practice time, but I'm looking forward to getting into some races this week.

Welp, I've officially just set an iRacing goal... to be D license 4.0 by July 25.

I came across the Road Warrior series schedule, and they are running the 2.4 Hours of Spa that weekend (to coincide with the real race). I WANT TO RUN THAT SOOOOO BAD. Running that BMW Z4 GT3 at Spa for over 2 hours... oh sweet baby jesus. I'm dying to run a real endurance race in iRacing.

Although I'm not sure how the Road Warrior series works. I don't see it under the "series" tab. Maybe it pops up once you're eligible for it? I dunno. But Spa 2.4 Hours with GT3, Zolder 2.4 Hours with GT3, Bathurst 1000 (100 minutes) with V8 Supercars and Petit Le Mans (100 minutes) are ones left on the schedule this year that interest me very much.

Did a couple of events tonight. Ran a Global Challenge time trial and race at Barber Motorsports Park. Can be a tricky track at parts with blind corners and hills where the car can get a little light. Ran the 30 minute time trial first while waiting for the race. Had 0 incidents so that raised my Safety Rating from D 2.94 to D 3.38. So that was good. Since it was my first race at barber and they had me starting on the 3rd row (with rolling start), I decided to start from the pits and play it safe. Was running fairly decent, passed the Kia's and passed a couple Caddy's. About half way in I went through a fast left/right and touched the grassed and spun it into a wall. Luckily the damage wasn't bad and I think I just popped a tire or something, b/c I didn't need any damage repairs after I went in (was pulling left before I pitted). Came back out in 10th and 2 laps down. Picked up a couple positions before the end and finished 8th in class (11th overall). Only 3 incidents and that bumped my SR to D 3.54.

Soooo it was a good time trial and a pretty meh race, but I'm well on my way of getting to D 4.0 before July 25 so I can run the Spa 2.4 Hours. So that's awesome.

Completed my first oval race since returning to iracing. I decided to jump into the Dallara Indy Car (which IMO is one of the most fun series to run in). Homestead was very good to me... I started 18th and finished 8th in a field of 20 and a strength of field of over 2100

On the road racing side of things I am taking my time (and with the use of telemetry data) learning the MX5 and the road coarses in the circuit. I will more than likely try the Caddy for the first time next week at Summit Point and if I can post some consistent and competitive times I might even have a go at it.

I decided to pick up a few things tonight. Just went with stuff I wanted instead of worrying about it lining up with series'.

So I picked up two cars and two tracks: Daytona and Mount Panorama, and then the Corvette C6.R and the Ford Fusion Gen-6 NASCAR. Daytona road course and Bathurst are two tracks that I really enjoy (especially Bathurst). Bought the Corvette b/c I wanted another GT car and I figured buying the McLaren wouldn't make much sense right now given that I already have the Z4 (both GT3). Aaaand finally I chose the Fusion so I could run in some Carb. Cup races and get my feet wet with some real oval racing once in awhile instead of those slow Street Stocks lol.

Went ahead and tried out all the stuff. Run the Fusion at Charlotte in open practice for the Carb. Cup. Tough, but more fun that Street Stock. I got down to 1 second off the others in the lobby. Still working on having a clean, long run and not spinning out coming out of corners onto the straights. Then I took the Corvette out onto the Daytona road course. Getting those corners right is going to take some practice. The Vette is fun. Better handling than the Cadillac but not quite as good as the BMW. The gear indicator is a little small and hard to see, but other than that, I'm enjoying the car so far. Finally, I took the Z4 GT3 out at Bathurst. I love that track and I love that car. That track is even more fun with a wheel.

Maybe I'll post some pics of my new stuffz before or after the league race.

That Vette looks SICK!!! I bet it sounds nice too. We need to get you out of R and D class in ovals... From my past experience oval racing there is garbage, with one exception being the late models. Trucks, Indy, and silver crown are my favorite when it comes to ovals.

Haven't tried the new tire model, but the old classA impala was impossible for me to drive. It felt like you were floating on air. I had a hard time keeping the car on the track, let alone running it wide open.

Ironically enough I find myself working on more road stuff now. My goal is to try the Ruff by the end of the season and possibly run the ruff cup next season.

I only mess around with it here and there while I concentrate most of my time on road. Although it's a nice change of pace once in awhile. I'm almost at Rookie 3.0 for oval, just waiting for the schedule to come back around to Charlotte (Street Stock at that other track is a destruction derby). We'll see. I'd like to get up to the better stuff to run races here and there, but we'll see if the desire is there to go through the crappy series' in oval first lol.

I noticed you have the ruff. How does it handle? How would you compare it to the lower tier cars? Is it a big jump?

It's kinda tough at times. Coming out of high speed straights into low speed corners, if you hit the brake too hard, it'll turn right around. I've got aero maxed out and that's helped a little. It's easier than the MX-5 haha, but tougher than some of my other road cars. I bet it'd be a lot better if I really sat down and got a tune for it.

Welllllll... I went ahead and bought the McLaren. I just had to know how it compared to the BMW. Luckily now I have most of the cars I want (at least until the new Aussie V8s release later this year). I haven't looked at lap times yet, but handling wise they aren't too different. Both very enjoyable and probably my favorite two cars I've driven in the game.

Here's a quick outlap in the McLaren at Bathurst just to show how well it handles:

WOW, looking Goooooood Swarley. Car looks really stable... You using any assists? The track looks awesome too, even though as a new guy to road racing elevations give me fits.

Not sure what kind of wheel you have, but I strongly recommend taking the "hands off" feature. The drivers hands cant cross and you are limited to 90 degrees. That is a huge waste (and disadvantage) especially if you have a 900 degree wheel.

No assists, and that was a stock setup too. Elevation has been cruel to me at times, but I haven't had trouble with the mountain at Bathurst. Although I know that track ridiculously well from Forza 5, maybe that helps.

I have a G27. I'll try that sometime, although there's no way I could run the full 900 degrees. What I like about the 90 is that I don't have to take my hands off the wheel when I turn. But I'll test it out at some point and see.
