The difficulty is perfect so far in my playthrough imo. "Crushingly difficult".... not at all. Harder than a Souls game? Lolno.

It's not easy, tho. Especially if you haven't gathered intel on a captain. Your favorite attack move may not work at all on one guy, and if you don't know that, then it'll be quite difficult, especially if his legion of goons come out to join the fight as well.

The difficulty has a good balance to it.

Damn you bastards...I need to save money and y'all are making that very difficult to do. This game wasn't even on my radar until a couple days ago. I just bought Destiny, FIFA, NBA2k next week, and Evil Within the week after that. I'm fighting the urge not to splurge on this enticing game until it drops in price.

        Better than all of those.

I wouldn't say it's overly difficult at all. I've only died twice in my first 10 hours of gameplay and I barely run from a fight. All my time with Ass Creed/Arkham has conditioned me to want to take on hordes of enemies at a time, although it might not always be the best idea in this game because you WILL go down after 4 or 5 hits max. The combat is so sharp and responsive though that if you're on your game you won't lose.

I haven't even unlocked half of the abilities I want either, once I get some of the higher tiered ones Talion is going to be unstoppable

Haven't even seen any Lord of the Rings movies (), but I want to play this so badly. Had heard about it, but never paid it any mind since its LOTR

Saw that commercial tho, followed by looking at some gameplay videos

I met up with an Urak by the name of "Gorfel the Unkillable."

He's immune to EVERYTHING but Caragor bites and explosions.

Managed to get him to half-health using the fire/explosion trick w/ Elf-shot arrows... and then I got nothing.

Dude's killed me FOUR times tonight and he's Level 11 now.

...I'm gonna get his ass tomorrow.

Sauron's Army is what really takes this game to the next level. It's interesting to see how these captains progress depending on who you beat, who kills you, who survives your attacks, which captains battle each other, etc. Just awesome.

Definitely not crushingly difficult. The AI can find you stumbling into some horrific situations though (I was in a huge battle with a Warchief and his two Elite bodyguards, along with about a billion other dudes of varying enemy types once the alarm sounded, and by the time I died that group consisted of an additional 2 elites and a veteran. It was insanity -- still though, the game controls so well that I held my own.)

Tarz Blade Smith is on my last damn nerve lol. He NEVER kills me, but due to his poison drops, I can't see the counter icon come up, so one of his lackeys always ends up getting me. Tarz survives and ranks up. This has happened 3 or 4 times and he's a level 14 Legendary Captain now. This just became personal.

EDIT: Btw, guarantee this game gets me to do a LotR and/or Hobbit movie marathon this weekend.

This is true, and yet I still find myself having a blast collecting all of the extras right now. I'm thinking about focusing on getting all of the artifacts and seeing all 8 of the Wraith's visions before going back to the main missions. I look forward to getting the Platinum on this game before Dragon Age Inquisition comes out next month.

LOL. Evil Within isn't even out yet. That's another game I want but I'll wait for BF for that too.

                          The worst?

Failing the near-death check before dying and it's NOT the Captain that kills you but a low-level lackey.

Dude talked SO MUCH SHIT when he got me and got a fresh coat of facepaint to go w/ his suit of chainmail.

A few minutes later, I stumble upon a giant monster (I thought "troll" but it was the thing that Sauron mixed w/ Trolls to make BETTER Trolls... yikes) that finds that lowbie while I'm looking for him.

Said Lowbie was still a mile-long grease stain on the ground by the time I left.

Finally at long last time to dive back into this today. If any LotR fans are monitoring this thread and on the fence about picking it up or not, shut up, and go buy it. You'll thank me later.

This is making me put on my shoes and head up the road right now... All the previous comments had me about there, but I'm taking the word for it and pulling the trigger.
