Codex's in games, are ridiculous. I understand that they give you more information about characters, plot, things you find. However, I don't want to go through a quest only to head back to the camp and read my codex for the next hour to review what just happened, what I found, etc.
You don't have to read the codex, but there is information in there that's worth reading if you want to put pieces together. Like history of the realm, up until a certain point, etc.
Also wanted to add that the dragon armor makes slaying Flemeth really easy. I took My Rogue Ranger, Shale, Wynne, and Leliana and it was too easy once I got my main away from Wynne. She focused on healing while Shale, Leliana and I wrecked Flemeth. Leliana even died when Flemeth was at half health, and it wasn't a problem after that. Good battle.
The High Dragon is easy if your level is high enough, I beat it without the armor with Shale, Morrigan, my Ranger Rogue and Wynne.

Best way to battle Sloth Demon: Immediately go to your spirit forum, cast crushing prison and the snow spell (name eludes me). Switch to golem and go to town on his frozen and crushing body. Use all your special attacks. You'll knock out a lot of HP this way before the battle even starts. If the battle is still going for awhile, rinse and repeat.25-02, 23:16 Yawkey Way celtics fucking suckComment

Here comes Skeletor, bitches!
3-16-10 showed up at the end of the trailer, I assume that means it's coming out in July.Last edited by adembroski; 01-11-2010, 12:16 PM.S.P.Q.A.

I finally finished this game a few days ago, after constant new characters and reloads. All I gotta say is wow. I was blown away by just how detailed the ending is based upon your choices. i played a dual wielding warrior and i said at the beginning of the game to myself, that i was going to do what felt right. I had no preconcieved notions about being good or evil. I wound up being a berserker templar (berserker cuz the human noble storyline gave me anger, templar because, as i progressed through the game, I realized that demons were the biggest problem, and spellcasters were the only thing fucking me up).
i wound up being a very good guy. and the last several hours of the game were so distinctly shaped by my actions that I quite literally had a naked woman on my floor asking me to come finish watching inglorious basterds with her and I said "hold on, i gotta finish this". the girl passed out. I GAVE UP SEX TO FINISH THIS GAME. and it was worth it. Granted, she wasn't the most beautiful woman ive ever had naked on my floor, but... I digress. It was like the series finale to The Wire: I really didnt expect them to tie it all up, but they did so masterfully.Comment

The game's spectacular and all but seeing as there almost always an option to save at "Camp," I would have done that instead of finishing the game at the time.
Then again, I don't know the kind of hoes that Diivox pulls so... I suppose he'll have to buy her gifts to raise her approval rating of him then.Comment

would anyone be so kind to try and explain to me the turn based combat that happens in this game? i guess this happens during the pausing of the combat or whatever. But when i read things like "a roll of the dice" and that kind of thing, it really turns me off.
i never played a bioware game and really the only RPG i played were fallout 3 and demons souls and onlivion...a few others but never completed them.
can i free roam around this game and do quests how i like? is it pretty much open world?
the main thing i am trying to understand is the combat. The review videos show the combat as a bunch of guys standing there just hacking at each otherComment

Real time combat would be in any FPS as an example. You press R2, the gun fires and you can press that button whenever the fuck you want to make your "attack".
In DA, everyone will do what they are told (they can easily be given instructions like when >60% health drink a potion, or a mage can be told when they are melee attacked, to cast X spell, things like that).
Everyone in combat will have their "turn" although on the screen it will look real time. If you tell someone to attack someone else, they'll run over and attack once, wait a couple secs, attack again, wait a couple secs, attack again. Etc. You can issue a special skill or ability, they'll use that, and continue attacking and pausing as their turn comes around.
Hope that makes sense. You don't really notice it that much.
Free roam without a doubt is an option. The game is so wide open with how you can progress it's amazing. You can tackle the story/side quests however you want, in whatever order and you can take multiple approaches in your decision making.
As an example, there's a boy possessed by a demon, you confont it and you can
-Kill it and free the boy
-Let it keep the boy possessed and tell everyone to go fuck themselves
-Make a deal with the demon where she can let him go now and take him back later...and she'll give you a reward like pussy or some sword.
-etc
It's not so cut and dry where it's either Save the world or destroy it. There's options not just split choice.
I've only dug into half the game, but the story rolls with you and how you want it to go. Not to mention their is 6 separate beginnings to the game that are a few hours in length, and those beginnings will involve characters and moments that will continue to be seen until the very end of the game.Last edited by killgod; 01-12-2010, 03:35 PM.Comment

thanks kg.....i did rent this one yesterday and played for about 4 hrs. I am still at the beginning of the game where your about to be initiated into the wardens or whatever they are called.
the game is pretty cool. The game itself is excellent. Alot of cutscenes and conversation to watch....and even more stuff to read which isnt exactly my thing, but im able to get into it. There is alot to take in right off the bat so i was trying to hurry up thru alot of the early discussion and text.
one thing i couldnt figure out was how you guys use the radial to que up your players moves. I saw the tactical menu, which may be what you guys meant.....but i thought i read that you could use that pause menu to que up the attacks during a battle
i also felt that the combat action flows and happens quickly....which is great and didnt remind me of anything i have experienced as turn based.
i might just keep this one if i can sink into it. MW2 needs to STFU and quit calling me while im trying play the roleComment
