I suck real bad at setting up the tactical screen for my group. I'm at Loithering and am losing Alistair in cheesy battles because I think I'm setting up his Tactical stuff wrong.

Also just as a recommendation, focus on Alistair's strength, dexterity, and in a limited sense constitution and ignore everything else. I did this, with my most recent Alistair finishing the game with Strength 42, Constitution 20, and Dexterity at a max (I want to say it was 60ish but it might have been lower). He never got hit by this point save by certain attacks that aren't possible to dodge.
If all else fails, switch to casual. The game is significantly easier and in some sections just downright more fun. The game encourages multiple playthroughs, so it's a rare instance in which I think a playthrough on casual improves the experience, because then you can check out recommended builds for characters and parties for your subsequent playthroughs without worrying about having anything spoiled for you. Just a thought. It isn't what I did, but I can say, there are parts on normal which can be downright vicious (the final battle to name one).Comment

The delayed Return to Ostagar downloadable content for Dragon Age: Origins is now available on Xbox Live, but I'd rather have this imaginary DLC, featuring big head mode, Morrigan slapping, and more taint than you can shake a stick at.
Return to Ostagar is on XBL but not PSN yet. 400 credits.
Also in the link is a fake DLC trailer that brings a few lulz.Comment

This is one of those games for the casual or hardcore RPG player. It has all the elements for both players to be satisfied. It's not too difficult that someone new to the genre couldn't get into it. And it's not too easy that a seasoned RPG vet will look at it as a second rate challenge.
I really think Dragon Age has blended the play styles of both nicely and wrapped it in a beautiful looking package. While it's nothing that hasn't already been done before, it's still good enough to stand on its own.25-02, 23:16 Yawkey Way celtics fucking suckComment

Well, 40 minutes later and I'm not sure it was worth the 5 bucks. It was a nice little side-trip, but it wasn't as good as Warden's Keep and really just used a bunch of recycled stuff. Warden's Keep at least had conversations in it! This one has one, one section of dialog options.
Anyway, overall I guess I'd call it a meh.Comment

I'll spoiler them just in case:
You get:
- Maric's Sword (pretty meh, surprisingly. Good against Darkspawn but there are better swords available -- the one you get from a random encounter after having Warden's Keep for one)
- Duncan's Sword and Dagger (both seem like they would be awesome for a rogue Assassin, but you need strength of like 31 for the sword which is REALLY high for a rogue)
- Cailan's Armor (Okay, but not better than Blood Dragon or Juggernaut Armor, which is a little puzzling -- I guess it would be good to get early, but chances are your strength wouldn't be high enough for it then)
- Letter's indicating that Cailan had indeed gotten the Orlesians to come and help.
The last MIGHT have some impact, say later in the game. I can't say for sure as I played this from one of my epilogues so there was no way to see if it would have lasting effects. However, I entirely doubt it considering back in camp after it all I spoke with Alistair and it was back to normal, despite the fact that we had just found his brother's body and given him a funeral.
I don't know, just very average I think. I don't want to say for sure until I try it again. The weapons are cool, but aside from that, seems pretty half-assed, to be honest. Especially for something delayed. There is some banter between Wynne and Alistair that is new because both of them were in Ostegar, but I'm afraid that might be it. I mean, I had Sten and he literally said nothing the entire time. What if you had a party of like, Sten, Zevran and Leliana? Would the entire thing just be silent?
Sorry for the borderline ranting, it's just all fresh in my mind. If I hadn't had 1000 MS points that I had gotten for free, I'd be really pissed right now that I bought this, I think. Maybe that'll change with future playthroughs, dunno.Comment

After reading that, it looks like a skip for me as well. Not enough items/weapons or story to warrant buying this DLC. I even thought Warden's keep was "meh" It took me a total of 20 minutes to run the keep and be done with everything.25-02, 23:16 Yawkey Way celtics fucking suckComment

The more I think about it, the less impressed I am. They did apparently do an update though, don't know if you get that without the DLC, but if you DON'T get it without the DLC that's just insanity.Comment

Got through the Mages Circle part and I'm trying to get back to Denerim but every time I travel on the map I get jumped by a huge group of bad guys that I can't beat, any suggestions?Comment
