Unfortunately, he did homer of me. Next time I face the Mets, though, he's probably not going to be in the game very long. If you know what I mean.

Just looking at the hits allowed, how many DP's were there in that game?
It won't let me see how many DP's I had, but I think it was like 4 or 5 total. I remember one big DP was when I had the bases loaded with 1 out in extra innings. I was so angry that I had the bases loaded and couldn't score. It truly was an unbelievably awesome game, but when Wily Mo Pena homered, I was about ready to throw my controller half way across the room.

Yeah it does suck man. It was a hard fought battle, but I couldn't win. And Zito's really been doing well this season. He's been hitting the strike zone and not giving up many hits.

Lincecum and McPherson Homer, Giants Cruise To Victory

Left: Dallas McPherson points to the sky after hitting his first homer of the game | Right: Tim Lincecum takes John Parrish's changeup out of the park

                Game Story
When Tim Lincecum took the mound and fired a 97-MPH fastball to Cristian Guzman to start the game, the Nationals knew they had no shot at winning. Their putrid offense was going up against one of the best pitchers in the game. Lincecum received run support early on, as the Giants scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning. With 2 outs in the inning, Pablo Sandoval singled. Next to bat was Dallas McPherson, who has a knack for hitting homers. He drove a 1-2 offering from Daniel Cabrera and drove it into the right-field stands for a 2-run homer. Meanwhile, Tim Lincecum was pitching straight fire. He had 6 strikeouts through 4 shutout innings.

In the 5th inning, the Giants added 2 more runs to make the score 4 to 0. In the 6th inning, the Giants added on another run, which was a solo homer off the bat of Dallas McPherson. It was his 2nd homer of the game and his 12th homer on the season. The 8th inning is when things got a bit comical. The Nationals put LHP John Parrish into the game to face the bottom of the Giants batting order. Dallas McPherson flied out to start the inning and then Bengie Molina flied out. Tim Lincecum came up to the plate. Parrish gave Lincecum a changeup up in the zone and Lincecum belted it into the right field stands for a homer! Lincecum made the score 6 to 0 and that's the score that the Giants won by.

John Lannan Embarrasses Giants With Complete Game Shutout

Left: Bengie Molina goes to retrieve the wild pitch, which allows Elijah Dukes to score from 3rd | Right: Ronnie Belliard trots the bases after hitting a homer off of Merkin Valdez

                          Game Story
Today was not the day for the Giants to shine. It was Nationals pitcher John Lannan's day to shine. He pitched a spectacular 3-hit shutout against the first-place Giants. The Giants didn't have trouble getting contact with the ball, as most of their outs came from ground outs and fly outs. They just weren't able to get the ball out of the infield very much. Going into the 9th inning, the Giants only mustered up 1 hit, which was a single the came in the 2nd inning off the bat of Pablo Sandoval.

On the other hand, the Nationals did not have too much trouble scoring runs. They were able to score 4 runs on 9 hits. The first Nationals run came in the 5th inning, which was a John Lannan single that scored Dmitri Young from third base. The Nationals were also able to score in the 7th and 8th innings. Elijah Dukes led off the 7th inning with a stand-up double. The next hitter, Dmitri Young, singled, which moved Elijah Dukes to third. Noah Lowry then threw a wild pitch to Austin Kearns, which allowed Elijah Dukes to score and move Dmitri Young to second base. Kearns ended his at-bat with a strikeout and that brought up Jesus Flores, who singled which somehow scored Dmitri Young from second base. Noah Lowry was able to get out of the inning with not allowing any more runs. In the 8th inning, Merkin Valdez came in for Noah Lowry. Ronnie Belliard was the first batter of the inning and he took a fastball from Merkin Valdez and hit it into the left-field stands. That made the score 4-0, which was the score that the Nationals won. John Lannan was able to make it through the 9th inning, despite allowing 2 hits, without allowing a run to get the complete game shutout.
