Nate Schierholtz The Difference Maker As Giants Win 6 to 2

            Game Story
The Cubs took the first game in the series behind the strong start by Ted Lilly; that loss marked Matt Cain's first loss on the season. The Giants were able to bounce back and take the next two game. The Giants were also able to win today's game to make it three straight games won against the Cubs.

The two aces, Carlos Zambrano and Tim Lincecum, were on the mound. Both pitched very well, but both got the no decisions. Zambrano allowed 8 hits, while allowing 2 earned runs. Lincecum allowed 6 hits, while allowing 2 earned runs and only striking out 4 batters. It was a 2-2 tie going into the bottom of the 8th inning. Travis Ishikawa flied out to start off the inning, but then Delmon Young tripled to deep center. The next batter, Pablo Sandoval, was able to drive Young home with an RBI double. The Giants scored 3 more runs, which came off of 3 more hits. They went on to win the game 6 to 2 against the Cubs and they won the series.

Nah. It wasn't a sweep. I lost the first game, unfortunately.

The San Francisco Giants placed injured pitcher Jonathan Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list with left elbow tendonitis. Sanchez left today's game against the Dodgers after feeling a sting in his throwing elbow. He had allowed a career high 12 earned runs and 8 walks when he left the game.

To accommodate for Sanchez's injury, the Giants called up top prospect, Tim Alderson from AAA Fresno. Alderson already had a stint in the majors earlier in the season when Jonathan Sanchez fractured his toe. He was sent back down to AAA after Sanchez recovered from his injury. Alderson was 4-3 with a 4.39 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 53 1/3 innings in AAA so far this season.
