Giants slugger Dallas McPherson fractured his toe during the 1st game of the series against the New York Mets. McPherson dove after a grounder hit by David Wright, but missed; McPherson got his toe caught on the dirt, while he dove, and he fractured it.
McPherson, who has been a vital part of the Giants offense, will be out for atleast 3 weeks and was placed on the 15-day disabled list. McPherson has resurrected his career from the pits, as he was hitting .319 with 16 homers and 38 RBI's before he went down with the toe injury.
Backup 3rd Baseman, Andy Marte, will be playing 3rd base while McPherson is on the disabled list. Marte was acquired from the Indians in a trade that sent Bengie Molina to the Blue Jays and Randy Winn to the Indians. Sure looks like a good thing that the Giants acquired Marte.
