Removing Another Trouble
Britt was pacing around her house, worried about how Ethan would react. What was she going to say?
"Oh, I'm sorry for revealing your past?" She mumbled to herself, trying to act out her dialogue like she was rehearsing for a play.
"Nah, that definitely would make things worse," she realized, and continued to brainstorm. She had to think of something to say; something to get her out of hot water. But what?
...
Minute after minute past by and suddenly I was at the door of Britt's apartment. A lot of anger, stress and despair has built up inside of me and I was wondering how I would react to seeing that jealous bitch. Would my anger cause me to blow up and scream viciously at her? Or would I be calm about it and kind of push it off? Even I didn't know exactly how I felt as I knocked on the door...
...
*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*
"Oh shit, he's here," she thought to herself as she slowly walked towards the door. With a glimmer of hope, she looked out the door's peephole, hoping it was one of her friends. However, that dream was crushed when she saw an angry athlete with his arms folded standing on the other side. She took a deep breath, calmed herself and slowly opened the door.
"Hey," I calmly greeted her. I could tell she was nervous and not really happy to see me, but we had to talk about this. She motioned me inside and had me sit on a chair in the front room.
"So how ha...have you been?" She nervously said, as the words stumbled out slowly. It was like she planned out what she was going to say but once I was in front of her, she completely forgot.
"Don't you 'how have you been' me," I shot back angrily. "What made you write that article? Did you know that I'm suspended for the rest of the basketball season? Do you know that I possibly could be booted off the term completely?" I lied about that last comment but it was sort of for dramatic effect, you might say. Her jaw slightly dropped and I could tell she felt bad when I revealed that. I was trying to make her feel as bad as she could possibly feel.
"Really?" she innocently replied. It looked like she was damn near tears, but unlike past times, I honestly didn't care. She ruined my basketball season and possibly my reputation, so why don't I ruin her in some way? Payback is most definitely a bitch.
"Yeah," I exclaimed. "How does that make you feel? Does it make you feel any better that you ruined part of my athletic career?" Then, as I looked into her eyes, I could see why she did this.
She was jealous of Melyssa and I. Saving my life, having me tutor her - she didn't want to be just friends...she wanted to be more. This was just an attempt to get herself back into my life after she fell out of it with my son on the way. She was selfish and tried to take a chance by calling me out if it meant her being back in my life. It was a foolish plan and I was going to let her know that.
She opened her mouth to speak up but I raised my hand. "Listen," I started to explain. "It seems like you want to be with me at any cost, even if that means ripping me up as the media. I'm sorry to say your plan backfired. Don't ever think of me, look at me, or speak to me again. You can't get over the fact that I'm engaged, have a son, and am very happy with my life. Does it really kill you that much that I'm happier with someone else?"
With a tear slowly rolling down her cheek, she started to look around the house but couldn't any words to say; I had her speechless. Sighing, I got up and simply said. "I guess it does."
After removing Rodney from my life a few months ago, it was about time I removed the other trouble - Britt. The door slamming shut was the symbol to a perfect ending of this "relationship."Last edited by Woy; 11-30-2009, 02:12 AM.

Agent does bring up a great point though, regarding other RTG stories. Do not write an entire update and then at the end say it was only a dream. That makes the entire update pointless and no one wants to read about your best friend dying to only have him throwing you the game-winning touchdown pass in the next update. Just a word of advice for people who are thinking about writing a RTG.
I've been working on an update, but I'm going to get some sleep and post it tomorrow.

Spiderman's First Appearance
Since I was suspended for the rest of the season, I had the chance to spend more time with Melyssa and Sean Joseph. We ended up making it to the Big East tournament final, where we lost to a Cinderella Rutgers squad. Then we were the victim of the classic #5/#12 upset as Nevada got to us in the first round. It was a disappointing end to say the least and two days later, Jonny put his name into the NBA Draft and signed with an agent. Hell, there were even rumors of me putting my name into the draft, but that thought never crossed my mind. Although I like basketball more, I was too excited about the following season to even think about giving that up.
The school year finally ended and in a blink of an eye, it was fall camp again. We were predicted to finally break our bowl drought and I was in the film room with new starting quarterback Ryan Nassib to get him adjusted to major college football. If we could get better production from him than we did from Greg, then there's no doubt in my mind that we could win the Big East.
Camp was going well and with a week left, the Big East hosted their media day. Coach brought me to speak and players such as Noel Devine of West Virginia and Greg Romeus of Pittsburgh were there to join me. I didn't get the memo about wearing our game jerseys to the press conference and instead was dressed in a Spiderman t-shirt, which drew a little bit of chuckling from the reporters.
I laughed sightly as I sat down between the two pre-season award winners. "Yeah, I guess I missed the memo on the whole jersey thing," I said with a grin. "I know ESPN is going to get a kick out of this."
The reporters laughed again and then it was time to get down to business. Noel Devine - who was voted the co-Offensive Player of the Year with me on the pre-season ballots - answered questions first, and then Greg Romeus - voted the Defensive Player of the Year - answered his questions afterward. Finally, it was my turn as I looked out to see who would ask the first question.
I settled on an older guy near the front of the room. "Brian Williams of Sporting News," he said while clearing his throat. "How has your suspension from the basketball team effected you as a football player; if it has at all?"
Of course; I knew I would get a question or two regarding the suspension. Maybe they wanted to get a controversial quote out of me, I don't know. I wasn't going to let them have it.
"It's really helped me mature," I answered. "Not only as a player, but as a human being too. I think part of that has to do with the suspension, but what matured me more has to be the birth of my son. Plus the fiance at home wouldn't like me going out and having fun without her, would she?"
As an observer could tell, I like to keep the crowd happy and laughing. I scanned the group of reporters before deciding on a woman probably nearing her 40's in the back.
"Rebecca Meyers of the new website ESPN New York," she said. "Ethan, what's the main key for Syracuse to reach the post-season again?"
The name of Rebecca startled me for a second, but I quickly regathered my thoughts. "We need consistent play from the quarterback position," I replied, not really shocking anyone with my answers. "Not only that, but we need to just be more consistent over all. There were times where we beat solid teams like Minnesota and almost beat South Florida, but we were also awful in other games. We just need to put everything together and if we do that, we'll be successful. Next question."
I called upon a middle-aged man in the front for the next question. "Michael Jones," he said, but I interrupted him in the middle of his introduction.
"Who!?" I shouted, drawing some laughter from the younger reporters who obviously knew what I was doing. I chuckled a little and apologized. "Sorry Mr. Jones, it was only a joke. A few of you older reporters - no offense - wouldn't get it. Anyways, continue."
He looked down to his notepad before finally finding the question he was going to ask. "Even though you're a true sophomore this year, a few draft boards already have you listed as the prototypical NFL receiver. Is there a chance you pull a Maurice Clarett or Mike Williams and try to come out this year? Or will you just wait until after your junior year?"
It was a very weird question, but I had to answer it anyways. "Well Mr. Jones," I started to answer. "I really like it up here. I love my team and my coaches too much to pull a Clarett. Hell, you're the first one that brought that to my attention - I never planned on leaving school early, well, as a sophomore at least. I bet this was brought on from the NBA Draft rumors, correct?" I paused for a second as he nodded his head yes. "I thought so. Anyways, I set some goals for myself and this team. I want to play and win a BCS Bowl. I want to be the first receiver to win the Heisman Trophy since Desmond Howard. Basically, I want to put Syracuse football back on the national landscape. Maybe that will take three years, maybe four - who knows?"
More hands raised as I settled on an attractive younger woman on the left. She giggled as she introduced herself. "Allison Wallace; first of all, congrats on the baby and the engagement."
"Thanks," I said smiling. "Maybe if you need a second job sometime, I can hire you to play babysitter." A few more chuckles came from the crowd as Allison smiled with her cheeks blushing.
"Anyways," she continued. "Which player do you think you most resemble? And also, what's with the Spiderman shirt? I know you forgot about wearing your jersey, but I'm guessing you're a big fan of the character?"
"Of course," I said. "Who couldn't love Spiderman? He's only the greatest hero out there. Anyways...who do I most resemble, eh? I never really took the time to think about this one." After a few seconds of silence so I could think of an answer, I finished answering the question. "I would have to say Larry Fitzgerald. I'm not the fastest guy, but whenever I get a jump ball thrown to me, I make it my mission to be the one that comes down with it. Plus, he made so many plays in the playoffs last year, which reminds him of me in a way too. I've been a play-maker throughout both my high school and college careers. If I could have the same success in the pros as him, I would be ecstatic."
The reporters asked me a few more questions and then the one Public Relations guy announced that the coaches were next to take questions. It felt good to be back in the spotlight for the right reasons, and I was very excited for the upcoming season. I wouldn't have to deal with distractions such as Rodney and Britt and instead I could go out there and have fun.
I just hope winning games is a result of the fun.Last edited by Woy; 12-02-2009, 04:43 PM.
