Indiana Hires New Coach, Fires Bill Lynch
Bloomington, Indiana - In a surprise move yesterday evening, the Indiana Hoosiers announced that former head coach Bill Lynch had been fired, and that a new head coach had already been selected.
Anthony Thompson, who was a star at Indiana in the late 80's, happily accepted the coaching position when offered. "I figured this was my last shot to try and make Indiana into a winning football program," he said at a post-announcement press conference this morning, "and I figured, 'Why turn this down? I have the opportunity to do something special again at IU, and I want that opportunity.' "
Coach Thompson has had no prior coaching experience, but still thinks he'll do well in his first season. "I mean, we can't get any worse, can we?" he said. He added later that that came out wrong, and he didn't mean to imply that IU sucks.
The first thing he is going to do as a coach is remove all the players with bad attitudes. "If someone back talks me or gives me S*** throughout the season, they're gonna get it," he told us, "and if it happens more than once, their gone, no matter who it is."
