    Bottom 1st: Red Sox 0, Royals 0

Both pitchers making quick work of the first three batters, Buccholz striking out a pair.

    Top 2nd: Red Sox 2, Royals 0

Sox strike first here. Youkilis and Oritz reached with singles, but Drew and Cameron made outs. The runners advanced
a base on a wild throw which proved big as Beltre singled down the third base line, scoring both. Beltre tried to stretch
it to a double though, and was thrown out at second.

    Bottom 3rd: Red Sox 2, Royals 1

Betancourt and Gordon singled to start the inning, a double play ball to first got the runner at second, but was too late to
get Getz at first. Getz tried to steal second, but Martinez threw him out, leaving Betancourt at third. Podsednik got the hit
    to center, scoring Betancourt.

    Bottom 4th: Red Sox 2, Royals 1

Royals threaten in the fourth with a two out single and double to left, but Buccholz got Betancourt to strike out on a 2-2
    fastball to strand a pair.

    Top 5th: Red Sox 7, Royals 1

Cameron walked and Beltre ground to left for a single, before Scutaro ground into a double play. But Ellsbury lined to
center for a single to score Cameron from third. Pedroia followed with a walk, and Martinez singled to center, scoring
    Ellsbury from second.

Youkilis then hit his second home run of the year to right center, adding three more runs to the Sox lead, this still all
coming with two outs. Ortiz finally popped up to second for the last out.

    Bottom 6th: Red Sox 7, Royals 2

DeJesus started the inning with a single, and scored on an Ankiel one-out double. Buccholz got the last two to ground
    out though.

    Bottom 7th: Red Sox 7, Royals 3

Gordon doubled to left with one out, then advanced to third on a Getz fly out to right field. Gordon scored on a
Podsednik triple to left field when an Ellsbury dive came up short. Buccholz still trying to get the last out.

Buccholz walked DeJesus on four pitches, and in came Ramon Ramirez. Ramirez struck out Butler looking.

    Top 8th: Red Sox 7, Royals 3

Ortiz singles with one out, but Tejada got the last two outs to end the inning.

    Bottom 8th: Red Sox 7, Royals 3

Ramirez gets into some trouble with Ankiel singling and then reaching 2nd and 3rd on two past balls. Pena then
walked. But Ramirez got Guillen to pop out to first, and Betancourt to ground into a double play to end the inning.

    Top 9th: Red Sox 8, Royals 3

Scutaro and Pedroia reached with two outs with a single to right and a walk. Martinez singled to right, scoring Scutaro.

    Bottom 9th: Red Sox 8, Royals 3

Gordon singled to start the ninth, but Okajima got three fly outs to close out the game.
