If the deal is sweet enough (which it would have to be), I could see them going for it. It's gotta be a great package, though.

Lol, but really, you're stupid. After Peavy turned down that White Sox deal a couple weeks ago the ESPN article said that the Padres don't want to trade him to the NL West if they don't have to, but if they get a sweet offer, then they'll go for it.
Obviously, Kershaw would have to be included...Idk who the Dodgers other good prospects are. I know San Diego wants middle infield help and maybe CF.Comment

im not living in a cave here i realize what the padres options are here
According to radio host Dan Patrick, Dodger General Manager Ned Colletti said his team has “tried to get in on the Jake Peavy trade possibility before, but Padres GM Kevin Towers told the Dodgers that they'd have to pay extra since they were divisional rivals." Patrick added that "Colletti said San Diego wanted three players and a top prospect, and [Coletti] couldn't do that.â€
they may want him, theres no way theyre going to get him without looking like the stupidest organization ever

Just because that means "give extra" doesn't mean that they have to sell the family farm, just give more than other teams. If you think the Dodgers even THOUGHT about trading Kemp, you must be living in a cave.
Padres would've accepted our offer of Hanson + two pretty good prospects, so why wouldn't they accept Kershaw + 3ish good prospects. Kershaw is more MLB-ready than Hanson.Comment
-
ya they wouldve accepted the offer of hanson (4th best prospect in baseball, 2nd pitcher only to david price) and escobar+
especially because they only play the braves once or twice a year, minimizing the amount of times theyd have to face him
peavy to the dodgers is a completely different story, youre talking about facing just him 5 times+ and playing in the same divison, giving you virtually no shot whatsoever at making the playoffs for the next 5+ years
what the padres need is
1. middle infielder
2. starting pitching
3. catcher
with no likeable middle infielders of the future in LA, you can write that off, what would they want in return? either loney or kemp, add that with kershaw, and and some prospects
ONLY then would you even think about trading Peavey to the dodgers and kill your playoff hopes for the coming decade

I think you're over-valuing Peavy a bit. He won the Cy Young once but outside of that he's been injured on and off and struggled at other times in San Diego.
No way that the Padres would even realistically expect the Dodgers to give up Kemp in addition to Kershaw and other prospects. Kemp basically IS their franchise. I don't know enough about the Dodgers to suggest any other prospects, but the way you're portraying Peavy is a bit ridiculous.Comment

i value him with santana when he was in trade rumors, he might not be AS good as santana (id rank santana the 1st or second best pitcher in the game, with peavy in the top 10) peavy is just if not more valuable to the padres than santana was to the twins
youre right, the padres wouldnt realistically expect the dodgers to give that up, thats why they offer it, for all the reasons ive explained before, there is no way they give him up in division without getting a small fortune in return

And that's no small fortune...that's a fucking treasure chest.
No way Peavy is near Santana because of health concerns. Granted, he's pitched a good amount of innings over the course of those several years, but he's had injury problems in the past.
And how is Peavy more valuable to SD than Johan was to the Twins? Either way, I think we just agree to disagree.
Matt, just do what you feel is most realistic.Comment

injury problems? lol dude you keep on throwing shit out there and hoping it sticks
hes had at least 27 starts every year except his rookie season, so again, dont know what youre talking about
and ya, i think peavy is more valuable, you take peavy away from the pads, youre looking at best a 2-3 record from that rotation, that wasnt the same with the twins
if the padres turn retarted, and peavy is traded to the dodgers for a fair deal i will put a quote in my sig saying how smart you are, but if the dodgers make a deal, they will get raped

Also, the Padres are actually good this year, so it's not like they would be terrible without him. Peavy is only 3-5 so far yet they're sitting above .500. They wouldn't be all that terrible. You also have to keep in mind that the Twins also had Joe Mauer, Morneau, etc, so Johan had more help on offense.
Once again, Matt, do what you want. You don't have to give up a treasure chest, just a fair offer considering the circumstances.Comment

Peavy cant pitch away from Petco, He gives up almost 1 run higher away from Petco and gives up more home runs on the roadComment

Obviously you didn't read my entire post. I said, granted, he's made a good amount of starts every year, but he did have elbow problems twice over the past couple years. He just hasn't been as overall healthy as alot of other guys.

and i dont consider him injury prone if he isnt sitting out games during the season, 27+ is just fine a season if you ask me
and ya matt, sorry for raining on your parade, do what you think is right, ill still follow
i remember his last start he pitched 8 scoreless there or some shit

can some of ya'll help me with some trades? In my Braves chise Jair Jurrjens and Javier Vasquez are both out for some time.
My first trade idea was the Jake Peavy for Tommy Hanson, Yunel Escobar, and Rafael Soriano.
What are some other trades I could do? I need a good starting pitcherComment

You don't have to do anywhere near that good of an offer. I found that not including Hanson but doing Soriano + Escobar + Cole Rohrbough (or another B potential pitching prospect) works just as well.Comment
