Revenge is oh so sweet. Last year, the Bengals were defeated by the New York Jets in consecutive weeks. First in Week 17 although that game didn’t matter. Then the Jets ended in the Bengals year in the first round of the playoffs, coming into Cincinnati and winning 24-14. That loss has still been in the minds of Bengals players and fans ever since then. On this Thanksgiving, the Bengals finally got a chance to get revenge on New York. It took all 4 quarters, and a great game by Carson Palmer to do it, but the Bengals managed to get another come back victory and pick up a huge road win.
The game started out as many experts predicted it would. The first half was a defensive struggle. The only big play came on the Jets opening drive as Mark “Dirty” Sanchez hooked up with Santonio Holmes on a bomb for the early lead. The Bengals were unable to find the end zone at all during the first half, only notching two field goals. The New York defense completely shut down Cedric Benson, as he didn’t get anything going all day. The Bengals knew something was going to have to change in the second half if they were going to win. Carson Palmer was going to have to make some moves. Boy did he ever.
The Bengals finally got on the scoreboard in the 3rd quarter after Cedric Benson punched it in from the goal line. Palmer found an emerging target in Jordan Shipley for a big 65 yard gain to set up that touch down. Shipley was not done making an impact on this game. The Bengals shoddy tackling came back to haunt them twice in the second half, as Sanchez found Braylon Edwards on a short out in the third quarter but poor tackling allowed the former Wolverine to scamper into the end zone to put the Jets up 17-14. The 4th quarter was one that fans all over the country surely watched with enthusiasm. Palmer picked apart the Jets defense in the 4th, first finding that white man Jordan Shipley to give the Bengals a 21-17 lead. The lead didn’t last long as Sanchez found Dustin Keller for a long score quickly after that. This set up yet another late 4th quarter drive for the cardiac cats. Giving up on the running game, Palmer dinked and dunked his way down the field, finally finding T.O. running across the middle for a wide open score. This put the Bengals up 28-24, which they went on to win by.
The game was an important one for both teams, because this still keeps Cincinnati alive for a 2 seed in the AFC. They are currently tied with New England at 9-2, but the Patriots beat Cincinnati in week 1. The defending Super Bowl champs come to the ‘Nati next week to try and take down what looks to be a peaking Bengals team.

This game was just out of hand. Not going to do an in depth write up. Saint had 10 turnover, Brees broke the single game passing record for yards but threw 7 picks. I subbed in Bernard Scott in the 4th quarter and he could not be tackled. All around ridiculous game. Stats tell the story.
