    US National Team - FM11

    United States National Soccer Team

The United States men's national soccer team represents the United States in international soccer competition and is controlled by the United States Soccer Federation.

The team is, according to the FIFA World Rankings, ranked 24th in the world and first in CONCACAF, and is also ranked 25th in the ELO rankings. It has appeared in the last six FIFA World Cups, and hosted the 1994 edition.

The team's best finish in the FIFA World Cup came in the inaugural 1930 tournament where it finished third. More recently, it finished fourth in the 1995 Copa América, reached the quarterfinals of the 2002 World Cup, and took second place in the 2009 Confederations Cup. The United States has won the CONCACAF Gold Cup four times in ten tournaments, one short of Mexico's five. U.S soccer teams also took silver and bronze in the 1904 Olympic Games.

Since the 1970's, the U.S soccer team has achieved wins against Brazil, Germany, Argentina and Spain. Their win over England in the 1950 FIFA World Cup is considered among the biggest upsets in the history of international football.

WASHINGTON D.C. -- Today U.S.A. coach Bob Bradley has named his squad for the friendly against Brazil on Tuesday. Uncapped Los Angeles defender Sean Franklin has been included in the U.S.A. party and could be set to win his first cap. Bradley has certainly decided to opt for talent from abroad, with the majority of his players playing their club football overseas. Although a friendly match, a source at the FA commented on the inclusion of Juan Agudelo in the squad, saying the player was not good enough to hold down a regular spot or add depth to the squad. Bradley has also used the game as an opportunity to recall a number of familiar players, including Marcus Hahnemann, Benny Feilhaber, Alejandro Bedoya and Brad Davis.

                  -----
Injuries: Maurice Edu, Jose Francisco Torres, Tim Howard, Michael Bradley, Steven Cherundolo.

                        Brazil coast past U.S.A.

NEW YORK, NY -- The underdogs of the United States never threatened to cause an upset as they succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the New Meadowlands Stadium.

Wonderkid Pato gave Brazil the lead with a deftly executed finish from close range which found its target via the post in the 24th minute. U.S.A. captain Carlos Bocanegra compounded the misery for the U.S.A. in the 49th minute with an embarrassing own-goal. An error from Landon Donovan allowed midfielder Renato Augusto to score a fluke goal.

                        Attendance: 80,458

                          U.S.A. Under 20s 4 - 2 Mexico Under 20s

MEXICO CITY -- Manager Oscar Pareja was present as the United States Under 20s emerged victorious against Mexico Under 20s at Estadio Azteca this evening.

Pareja singled out Gregory as the team's top performer. The U.S.A. Under 20s defender looked tidy and hardly put a foot wrong all game. The left-back made several key passes to round off this impressive display.

                          Under 20s: C. Worthington, K. Veeder, Gregory, C. Shanosky, G. Agbossoumonde, A. Najar, C. Zamora, A. Okugo, V. Pineda, T. Bowen, R. Luna.
