NFL Network's 2009 Season Preview Pt 2
Rich Eisen, Warren Sapp, and Rod Woodson pick their team to watch
Eisen: Good afternoon and welcome back to NFL Total Access. Today, we're previewing the 2009 NFL season. So far, we've talked about our Super Bowl 44 picks and now we're going to talk about teams to watch. Who will be the next Arizona Cardinals per say? Happy to have Hall of Famer Rod Woodson on set, so Rod who is your dark horse?
Woodson: I'm going to have to go with the Buffalo Bills. They got off to a hot start last year before fading away. This is a young team loaded with talent and I don't think they'll fade this year even though they play in a difficult division. And let's not forget about Terrell Owens. He has brought so much energy to the team and the fan base and has the team believing they are capable of going to the playoffs. I think they have a legitimate shot of grabbing a wildcard seed this year.
Eisen: Ok Warren, what about you?
Sapp: You know what? I like the Cincinnati Bengals. Yeah they had a disastrous campaign in 2008 finishing the year with just four wins but this team will be dramatically better if they can stay healthy this year. In the off season they were hit hard by the loss of T.J. Houshmandez and some veterans on the offensive line, but they countered with a solid draft and some solid free agent acquisitions. The biggest return will be Carson Palmer at quarterback because he is the heart and soul of that offense. His number one target will be Chad Ochocinco or whatever his name is and after speaking to number eighty-five, he is focused on going to the playoffs and will put aside his personal issues for the benefit of the team. Then again, he's probably saying all of this because he is in a contract year. But like I said if this team stays healthy, they will surely make some noise in the AFC.
Eisen: Very interesting picks. Personally, I like the Jacksonville Jaguars. Their revamped their o-line, which was an Achilles heel for them last season, and their defense looks stacked. Add in Garrard, Jones-Drew, and Torry Holt and this team can very well make the playoffs.
*Rex Ryan names Sanchez starting QB
*Jamarcus Russell tabbed Raiders starting QB
*Vick suspended 4 games
*Tavaris Jackson unhappy with Vikings
