Yep, Penn State looked pretty darn good. The entire Big Ten looks great so far. Scary that I'm playing Purdue for the first real game of the season.

#22 Oregon State (1-0) at Purdue (1-1)
West Lafayette, IN - Oregon State would begin its real season today against a very confident Purdue team. The Beavers were able to beat up on FCS Midwest with an easy 45-7 win. West Lafayette was buzzing all week after the stunning upset over rival and then No. 1 ranked Notre Dame. The Boilermakers would look to show the rest of the nation that it was not a fluke. Oregon State would need to start fast in this one to take away that momentum that Purdue was coming into the game with.
Purdue did not get off to a good start as the OSU defense forced a three and out. The Purdue fans were psyched for this one and it showed on the first OSU drive. OSU QB Bryan Rossner was sacked to set up a 3rd and 17. But Rossner would step up on the next play and throw over the middle to true freshman TE Adam Banks who made the catch, then was not brought down until he had gained 35 yards. Oregon State would find themselves in the red zone where Rossner rolled out and tried to hit WR Alex Whitehead in the back of the end zone but the coverage was good as Purdue CB#8 made the interception to further fuel the crowd noise.
However, Purdue would quickly lose what ever momentum they had gained as Purdue QB Caleb TerBush was picked off by OSU nickel back Amir White. On 3rd and five at the Purdue 24 yard-line, Rossner missed a wide open WR Bill Faaeteete that probably would have gone for six. OSU was forced to kick a 41-yard field goal to take a 3-0 lead.
On the ensuing possession for the Boilermakers, Purdue marched all the way down the field. It looked like they had something going until QB Caleb TerBush threw into the end zone where OSU true freshman CB John Biggers was there to make the interception to stop Purdue in the red zone.
OSU true freshman CB John Biggers makes the interception in the end zone.
As the 2nd quarter got underway, OSU was marching down the field mostly behind the play of senior QB Bryan Rossner. It seemed the light clicked on above his head on this drive as everything OSU coach Mike Riley called was being executed to near perfection. Rossner would find HB Marvin Quinn in the flat where Quinn slipped through a tackle and spun by another until he was in for six on a 17-yard touchdown reception. Oregon State took a 10-0 lead and the stadium was suddenly a lot quieter.
OSU HB Marvin Quinn slips a tackle and spins by another for a 17-yard touchdown reception.
Highlight
Finally, Purdue responded when QB Caleb TerBush found slot WR Chase Williams over the middle for a huge 44-yard gain. However, the Boilermakers could not get anything but a 42-yard field goal out of it to make it a 10-3 OSU lead.
Purdue QB Caleb TerBush finds WR Chase Williams for a 44-yard gain.
Now the Purdue crowd was awaken but Rossner would quiet them down again when he playfaked to HB Marvin Quinn and threw deep over the middle where WR Alex Whitehead made the catch for a 24-yard gain. The Beavers would capitalize on the play as Rossner faked the fly sweep to WR Bill Faaeteete and threw to HB Jacquizz Rodgers in the flat. Rodgers broke an ankle with a fantastic juke move and then found his way into the end zone on the 16-yard touchdown reception to put Oregon State ahead 17-3.
OSU HB Jacquizz Rodgers breaks an ankle to get into the end zone on a 16-yard touchdown reception.
Highlight
The Beaver defense continued to look tenacious as Purdue could get nothing going as they went three and out again. OSU QB Bryan Rossner got his team in position to kick a last second 40-yard field goal at the end of the half to make it 20-3 OSU at halftime.
Oregon State would continue right where they left off to start the 3rd quarter as Rossner led another nice, balance drive. The Beavers would get back in the red zone where Rossner stepped up in the pocket and threw a laser over the middle to WR Bill Faaeteete for a 14-yard touchdown to put the Beavers up 27-3.
It would not get any better for Purdue as QB Caleb TerBush was picked off again when OSU CB Mike Mayes made a terrific catch, giving the Beavers good field position.
OSU CB Mike Mayes makes a terrific catch to pick off Purdue QB Caleb TerBush.
Rossner would lead another brilliant drive, taking advantage of a new weapon in his arsenal in true freshman TE Adam Banks who is going to cause opposing defenses problems all season. Rossner would finish off the drive as he threw a strike to Oregon native from Four Corners, WR Alex Whitehead on the slant for a 9-yard touchdown. Whitehead would have a great game as he would finish with 8 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown. He is really quick and runs good looking routes. He will be somebody to watch this season. Whitehead's first career touchdown reception would be Rossner's fourth touchdown pass of the game and it would put the Beavers up 34-3.
OSU WR Alex Whitehead catches his first touchdown to give Rossner four touchdown passes on the day.
Highlight
In the 4th quarter OSU CB Mike Mayes would get another interception that would eventually set up a 3-yard touchdown scamper by HB Marvin Quinn as the Beavers went up 41-3 and all of the 2nd teamers were brought in for some valuable game time experience. The Boilermakers were able to finally find the end zone against the OSU 2nd team defense when HB Ralph Bolden received the pitch on an option for a 1-yard touchdown as the Beavers looked very impressive, pounding the Boilermakers 41-10 in their first road game. It looks like Rossner might have a special season if he can continue playing like this.

Week 3
(13) Tennessee victorious over (8) Florida 24-13 in SEC battle
Florida HB Ken Marshall is taken out of the game with this vicious hit.
Knoxville, TN - This was a hard hitting game from the start under a torrential down poor. On the opening kickoff, Tennessee CB Prentiss Waggner was de-cleated by Florida OLB Lerentee McCray as the Gators recovered and returned it for an early touchdown. It looked like Florida would run away with it but that would be the Gators only touchdown of the game as a tenacious Tennessee defense shut down Urban Meyer to zero offensive touchdowns. The Gators lost their playmaking HB Ken Marshall on his first carry of the game as he took a vicious hit, forcing Marshall to leave the game with back spasms. The game felt like a Steelers-Ravens game but Tennessee HB Tauren Poole was able to move the ball on the ground for the Vols, scoring two touchdowns. The Vols defense looked as good as advertised and Tennessee is now a team to look out for.

Game of the Week
#9 California (2-0) at #5 USC (1-0)
Picks of the Day
#10 Tennessee at #22 LSU
Kirk: LSU Lee: LSU
Chris: Wow, I'm alittle surprised that you both are picking LSU after the way Tennessee looked last week against Florida. Alright, that brings us to the game of the week. Cal and USC. Last year this was HB Langston Jackson's signature game that help him eventually win the Heisman. It also allowed Cal to win the Pac-10. (Crowd boos.) However, the Golden Bears made the Rose Bowl where they were dominated completely by Ohio State. (Crowd cheers.) This is an early Pac-10 game that will have significant importance on the conference race and possibly have BCS implications. How will tonight's game play out?
Kirk: I've thought about this one all week. I'm still honestly not sure. These teams are very closely matched. Cal as a great, young QB in Sam Russell that is really sharp with a good arm. He will need to have a great game tonight if the Bears are to win. Cal brings in one of the best defensive lines in the nation. But USC has playmakers all over its offense from QB Xavier Miller who I think will be the X-factor today. Miller is mobile. Something USC has not had at QB in some time. But USC also has HB Curtis McNeal and WR Jermaine Clark. They should be primed for big games. USC again has one of the best defenses in the nation. I will say this thoug, if Cal can get a run game established and get their receivers in man coverage, the Cal receivers have the ability to beat USC's CBs. But I'm going with USC today. (Crowd cheers.) The Trojans have the home field and just seem to have the better athletes.
Lee: I'm with you Kirk. I really don't know who to pick today. This is going to be much closer than the experts think. Cal will slow down USC's offense but I'm not sure Cal has an offense capable of scoring on the Trojans. Hmmm...alright...so who am I picking? (Lee gets out the Trojan helmet as the crowd cheers him on.) Let's go USC! Go Trojans!

Oklahoma State (2-0) at #18 Oregon State (2-0)
Corvallis, Or - The Beavers had their first true home game against a team that actually mattered as their first home game was against FCS Midwest. This one would be against a surprisingly undefeated Oklahoma State team coached under its new coach Todd Graham. Though it is not too surprising when you look at who they have played. The Cowboys beat Rice and Navy so that is not exactly the best competition. Oregon State would look to continue the success from last week. OrSt QB Bryan Rossner looked fantastic and for the first time it looks like he could be a legitimite NFL QB. One thing we could say for certainty is that OSU will win today.
The Cowboys were able to get a single first down on their first possession but were forced to punt. The Beavers came out and tried to get HB Marvin Quinn going early as they were running that ball at a perceived weak Oklahoma State defensive line. The result of the Beavers' first drive was a 46-yard field goal attempt that sailed too far to the right. Next, the Cowboys were forced to punt after a three and out. As the game moved into the 2nd quarter scoreless, the Beavers had made their way all the way to the goal line with a 3rd & 1 facing them. OrSt HB Marvin Quinn took the handoff and powered across the goal line for a 2-yard touchdown run as Oregon State finally put the first points on the scoreboard to go up 7-0.
OrSt HB Marvin Quinn gets across the goal line on a 2-yard touchdown run.
The Cowboy offense would finally get something going and would get themselves in the red zone mainly because of the play of QB Maurice Moses. As the Cowboys were in the red zone, Moses threw a pass to his TE where OrSt CB John Biggers helped make a tackle. Unfortunately, Biggers did not get up and was seen writhing in pain. The replay showed that he had fallen on his elbow awkwardly and then the OkSt TE fell on top of his arm. It was clear he was injured badly. The report did not take long to come in that OrSt CB John Biggers, the Beavers' prize freshman recruit had a broken elbow and was out for the season.
Prize freshman recruit OrST CB John Biggers has a broken elbow and is out for the season.
To make matters worse for the Beavers, OkSt QB Maurice Moses threw to TE#45 for a 2-yard touchdown to tie the game 7-7.
OkST TE#45 with a 2-yard touchdown reception.
However, on the ensuing kickoff, OrSt HB Marvin Quinn caught the ball, juked by a defender, found a seam, accelerated through the seam, and was not caught until he was a few yards away from the end zone where a Cowboy defender tried to trip him up. Quinn was able to stay on his feet and celebrate a 94-yard kick return for a touchdown to put the Beavers up 14-7.
Now the momentum had turned in favor of the Beavers and Reser Stadium was more energized. It would lead to another Cowboy punt. Oregon State had a chance to start putting this one away. That is when OrSt QB Bryan Rossner tried to show off his arm strength as he threw all the way across the hash marks to WR Alex Whitehead running an out pattern. It was apparent that Rossner is not quite there yet as the ball was late and thrown behind Whitehead where it was picked off by OkSt CB Josh Thompson for a pick-six to tie the game 14-14.
OkSt CB Josh Thompson with a pick-six.
Rossner would look to make up for the turnover on a final possession of the half with a good looking drive. Unfortunately it would come up short as the OrSt offense looked confused on how they wanted to proceed to stop the clock because Emac78 forgot which button is the "spike the ball" button. As a result, Oregon State was forced to attempt a crazy 57-yard field goal that fell short of the cross bar to preserve a 14-14 tie at halftime.
It would not take long for Rossner to get back on track in the 3rd quarter as he hit WR Bill Faaeteete over the middle where he broke a tackle and was off to the races. Faaeteete would dive across the goal line to make sure he got in as the Cowboy defenders had caught up but just not enough to keep Faaeteete out of the end zone as Oregon State quickly reclaimed the lead 21-14 on the 62-yard touchdown reception.
Now it would be up to the Cowboys to counter back. OkSt HB Brandon White would get the pitch from Moses on an option play and break containment for a huge gain. Fortunately for Oregon State, OLB Carlos Matthews was able to run him down for only a 29-yard gain. A faster tailback likely would have gone the distance. The Cowboys would only get a 47-yard field goal out of the big run to make it a close 21-17 lead for Oregon State.
The Beavers were feeling the pressure and needed to put the Cowboys away. Unfortunately, Rossner made his worst pass of the season as he threw a duck up in the corner of the field into heavy coverage because Emac78 pushed the wrong button, where OkSt CB Josh Thompson made his 2nd interception of the game. Now Oklahoma State would have a chance to take the lead. The Cowboys seemed to have success on offense. The loss of OrSt CB John Biggers may have had more of an impact than Oregon State would have thought. However OrSt DE Brian Daley came up with a clutch sack on 3rd & short to force a Cowboy 51-yard field goal attempt. The kick hooked left as Oklahoma State was unable to capitalize off the turnover.
Oregon State had dodged a bullet but Rossner would give the Cowboys another golden opportunity as he tried to throw over the middle of the field to Faaeteete but the ball would not travel through OkSt MLB Rian Cross who was there for an easy interception. Hopefully, the scouts were not at this game because this is one Rossner would like to forget. The Cowboys were driving inside OrSt territory as the 3rd quarter came to an end.
The Beaver defense could not get the Cowboy offense off the field as Moses kept converting 3rd downs. Finally, Oregon State came up with a stop to set up a 4th & 1 at the OrSt 11-yard line. Oklahoma State coach Todd Graham decided to go for it where HB Brandon White was stuffed in the backfield for a huge stand for the Beavers.
However, the Beavers were forced to punt after only getting a single 1st down. The Cowboys quickly found themselves back in the red zone. Now Graham had to be thinking that he should have kicked a field goal earlier. It would come down to a 4th & 3 at the OrSt 12-yard line. Moses would drop back, could not find anybody open and dumped it off to HB Brandon White where he was tackled practically as he caught the ball for no gain. The Beaver defense came up with another stand.
Finally, OrSt HB Marvin Quinn would put it away with a 31-yard run and run the clock out as Oklahoma State was out of timeouts. The Beavers squeaked by with a 21-17 victory over a seemingly much improved Oklahoma State team.

Week 4
(5) USC runs over (9) Cal to a 31-17 victory
USC HB Curtis McNeal breaks loose for what was ruled a 100-yard touchdown run which was less than one-third of his 325 yards rushing today.
Los Angeles, CA - It might be time to revise the sliders as USC HB Curtis McNeal is the talk of the nation after his amazing night in front of a primetime audience. McNeal ran for an astonishing 325 yards and two touchdowns against what is thought to be one of the top defensive lines. USC has three offensive linemen who will likely be 1st round draft picks and they absolutely dominated the Cal defensive line. It was really a game of many highlight plays. McNeal not only had a 100-yard touchdown run but also had a 72-yard touchdown run on the first play of the game from scrimage. Though Cal HB Jon Nelson was outshined by McNeal, he also had a good day against a tough Trojan defense. Nelson gained 145 yards on the gound and scored two touchdowns. He also caught five passes for 42 yards. As well as McNeal did for USC, QB Xavier Miller did not look so well as he went 9-21 for only 152 yards, but he was able to connect with WR Jermaine Clark for a 74-yard touchdown. If McNeal continues to play like this, he will quickly be on the Heisman watch list and USC will be a very tough team for anybody to beat.

CAPs Report
HB AJ Butler 5* #1 (LegendCreator)
Corvallis, OR
Top Choices: Florida State (wk 14), LSU (wk 10), Texas (wk 13)
All the top schools are after this Oregon prospect but it looks like Florida State might be the school for Butler. He can't wait to get out of the Pacific Northwest it looks like.
HB Kevin Fox 5* #2 (Fox1994)
Las Vegas, NV
Top Choices: Michigan (wk 10), Ohio State (wk 13), Florida State (wk 14)
When both Michigan, Ohio State, and Florida State are travelling all the way to Las Vegas to recruit Fox, we know that Fox must have some talent. Michigan has edged out Ohio State thus far but the Buckeyes' drilling of Miami definitely incresased his interest.
WR Courageous Campbell 4* #5 (jayroddog6)
South Bend, IN
Top Choices: Texas A&M (wk 5), Michigan, Penn State
Campbell will be attending this week's game of the week in College Station where Texas A&M hosts Texas Tech for a huge Big-12 game. The Aggies have been hot on Campbell from the beginning.
WR Chris Jackson 5* #2 (Icefist)
Hilo, HI
Top Choices: Penn State, Hawai'i, Miami
Penn State continues to go after WRs and Jackson likes what the Lions have to offer. Jackson is also considering staying home to play for Hawai'i, but Miami has started to interest the wideout.
DT Dexter Lee 4* #4 (aGONZO)
Portland, OR
Top Choices: Oregon (wk 11), USC (wk 13), UCLA (wk 12)
It looks like Lee wants to stay close to home and the entire west coast is after the talented DT with Oregon and those flashy uniforms as his favorite for now.
CB Kyle Garvella 5* #1 (raiderfan7)
Los Angeles, CA
Top Choices: UCLA (wk 14), Cal (wk 11), Nebraska (wk 13)
Garvella is feeling like he might want to stay close to home and he could not get much closer by going to UCLA. Cal is also a possibility and Nebraska is also after him.
FS Trent Rome 5* #1 (nfcsouth25)
Charlotte, NC
Top Choices: Nebraska (wk 13), Georgia Tech (wk 11), Tennessee
As of now, it looks like the top prospect in the nation wants to be a Cornhusker. With Rome in the secondary, the Black Shirts will definitely be back.Comment

Game of the Week
#11 Texas Tech (2-0) at #10 Texas A&M (3-0)
Chris: Welcome to College Station. Home of the 12th man. (crowd goes wild) We've got some big games on tap this Saturday. We weren't even sure whether we would be here or in Tuscaloosa where the defending national champion Crimson Tide will take on the previous champions, the Florida Gators. Also, out west, ASU is taking on a Cal team that looks to rebound after USC HB Curtis McNeal just exploded for 325 yards.
Lee: How about that!
Chris: As you can see, I'm with Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit. Today we have a major in-state Texas rivalry between Texas Tech (crowd boos) and Texas A&M. (crowd cheers) We also will have two QBs that are both on the Heisman watch list. A&M QB Tommy Dorman is having a tremendous year thus far as he has thrown for 10 touchdowns and only one interception. (crowd goes nuts as some "Dorman for Heisman" signs are put up) However, Tech brings in the preseason favorite for the Heisman in QB Allen Wright. (crowd boos)
Kirk: Hey, there's an "Allen Wright" sign. (sign is shown but quickly disappears as there is a small melee in the background)
Lee: Kirk, look what you started there.
Chris: Well, we better take a break and let that little scuffle get settled. We'll be back with our picks for the day and Lee will choose his headgear.
Picks of the Day
#17 Arizona State at #14 California
Kirk: Cal Lee: Cal
#13 Florida at #8 Alabama
Kirk: Bama Lee: Florida
Chris: That brings us to the game we have here. (crowd starts cheering) Who do you guys got?
Kirk: Man, this crowd is crazy today. With the way that Dorman is playing I have a hard time not picking A&M. I really think this homefield will have an impact and I like A&M's balance on offense. I'm going with A&M today. (crowd goes nuts)
Lee: Don't forget about Tech sweetheart. Old Mike Leach will have QB Allen Wright ready to go today. Don't forget, Wright can run with the ball if he has to. That's why I'm going with..(Lee gets out the Raider Red headgear to a loud chorus of boos) No way! Forget about it! (Lee throws the Raider Red headgear at Kirk and puts on a Texas A&M helmet as the crowd goes ballistic) Go Aggies!

Week 5 (Bye week)
(11) Texas Tech defeats rival (10) Texas A&M 31-14
Texas Tech QB Allen Wright scored a total of four touchdowns and passed for 369 yards to lead Tech to victory.
College Station, TX - Everybody was eager to see two of the top QBs in the nation face off against each other as it was Texas Tech QB Allen Wright versus Texas A&M QB Tommy Dorman, but only one played well. Both started off about as horrible as possible as each QB threw an interception on their opening possession. Wright's first pass was actually intercepted, but he was able to recover and have a terrific game. The Red Raiders' offense was running like a well oiled machine as Wright was throwing darts all over the field. Dorman on the other hand never got going as he threw a total of three interception on the day. The Aggies had trouble protecting Dorman the whole game as Texas Tech sacked him seven times. The Red Raider defense also shut down the Aggie running game. The game was actually pretty close until Texas Tech pulled away in the 4th quarter to finish off the Aggies 31-14.

Game of the Week
#1 Texas (4-0) at #7 Oklahoma (4-0)
Chris: Welcome to the Cotton Bowl for one of the biggest rivalries in college football, Texas and Oklahoma. [crowd cheers] Well, we saw two elite QBs last week and now we have two more in Texas QB James Minor and Oklahoma QB T.J. Lee. Both of these guys can beat you with their arm and their legs if they have to. The Red River Rivalry as usual will have implications on the national picture but we have a bunch of great games this weekend. A huge one in the Big Ten between Penn State and Wisconsin. Two games out west, Cal and Oregon State. Also, Oregon and ASU. Not to mention two undefeated SEC teams, Tennessee and Alabama. In many ways this weekend will give us a better idea of who the contenders are. When we come back, we'll start previewing all of these games...
Picks of the Day
#6 Penn State at #3 Wisconsin
Kirk: Wisconsin Lee: PSU
Chris: Next up, we have No. 21 Cal who will be in Corvallis to play No. 17 Oregon State. This game was huge last year as it was the Beavers' signature win. Cal's loss to Oregon State ultimately cost them a chance at the national title so the Bears will be trying get revenge. Can Cal when at Reser today?
Kirk: Cal has now lost two Pac-10 games in a row to USC and ASU, and has looked terrible doing it. I have to go with Oregon State who is playing great defense even with the loss of last year's 2nd rated CB prospect, John Biggers for the season. It should be close but the Beavers come out on top.
Lee: Not so fast! Cal has just finished playing probably the two best teams in the Pac-10. I'm not really sure that means a whole lot but Oregon State is not on par with those teams. Oregon State should have lost last week to a terrible Oklahoma State team on their own home turf. Cal rolls today.
#13 Alabama at #18 Virginia
Kirk: Virginia Lee: Bama
#9 Tennessee at #23 Georgia
Kirk: Tenn Lee: Georgia
#20 Oregon at #12 Arizona State
Kirk: ASU Lee: Oregon
Chris: You guys earned your money today as you didn't agree on any of the games. Well, we turn our heads to the Red River Rivalry now. [crowd cheers] Can OU knock off the top ranked Longhorns?
Kirk: Most think that this will be a shootout between the two great QBs but I think the difference will be on defense. I don't think it will be as high scoring as many are suggesting. Texas has three LBs that will all play in the NFL next year. The Longhorns' defense will be the difference today as Texas stays undefeated. [mixed reaction from crowd]
Lee: That's an excellent point Kirk. This one is going to be a close one. Oklahoma has two WRs, Ball and Owens who will also be the NFL sweetheart. I don't think Texas will be able to cover them both and OU QB T.J. Lee will have great game. But wait...not so fast! Texas brings in the leading favorite for the Heisman in WR D.J. Grant and he is fantastic too. So who do I pick? [crowd get riled up as Lee pulls out a Sooner hat and an OU air cannon, then proceeds to fire Sooner t-shirts at the crowd] Go Sooners! Go Oklahoma!

Right now, we're not going to get any. There's a few four-star defensive players and a QB from Maine of all places that we're targeting. I'm letting the CPU sim my recruiting because I'm bored of recruiting and it seems more realistic. It's too easy and this will allow my team to resemble a real Oregon State team. I'm still doing the BeaverBlitz though, but I haven't had anybody commit yet.Comment
