Status: Chuck Knox is easily one of the best NFL coaches to ever stand on the sidelines, and it highly underrated because of the team�s he played with prior. (Rams/Bills) This 18 year veteran just coached his 8th season with the Seattle Seahawks franchise, and it was a solid 9-7 effort that saw them enter into the wild card playoffs. The Seahawks passing game surprised many defenses this season, and Knox wanted it that way. This overlooked team has managed to sneak out solid records ever since Knox became their headcoach. Knox worse coaching seas was 1989 when he went 7-9 with the Seahawks, other than that the Seahawks have remained 8 victories or above since 1983.

Info: Brian Blades had a breakout 1990 season that may have established himself as one of the best young wide outs in the league. After getting the #1 spot last season Blades put up 77 catches for 1,063 yards and 5 touchdowns, a valiant effort that was only surpassed by his unbelievable following output. This year Blades led all receivers with an astonishing 15 touchdowns on 85 catches. That means that 17.6% of the time Blades caught the football, it was for a touchdown! Blades easily took home the Seahawks team MVP award, but the more valueable one may be the WR of the year award given by the league.

Info: Patrick Hunter started off at the #2 spot at cornerback but slowly faught his way to tops on Seattle after he led the Seahawks with 7 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. Hunter also earned his first Pro Bowl spot in 1990. Hunter started off hot with 6 interceptions in the first 9 weeks of the regular season, only to cool down with 1 over the final 8, but he still proved he has what it takes, and really surprised many quarterbacks this year.

Info: Tommy Kane put up career high numbers after only having 13 catches for 126 yards to his career so far. Kane solidified himself at the #2 spot for the Seahawks receiving corps this year and caught 8 touchdowns. He also put up a respectable 13.6 yard per catch average, and with only one credited drop all season it was obvious that Kane had the hands Dave Kreig required of him. To top that all of, Tommy Kane was also the team�s #1 kick and punt returner where he combined for 1,343 yards.

1. - LG � Edwin Bailey � 24 Pancakes � 4 Sacks Allowed
Info: Edwin Bailey was expected to have a much better season than the lackluster year he had in 1990. Bailey�s an veteran lineman, but he performed the worst out of all the Seahawks starting offensive lineman, even Andy Heck who missed multiple games to an injury. The Seahawks may have to start contemplating a replacement for Bailey in the near future, if his age decline is going to be as rapid a fall off that this season seems to indicate.

Info: Darren Comeaux had high expectations going into the season, 100+ tackle double digit sack expectations to be exact. However a sidelining injury kept him out until the playoffs for the Seahawks. During his short tenure Comeaux managed 49 tackles with only a single sack, the lack of versatility in Comeaux game brought some concern to Seahawks fans as they thought Darren would�ve shown better ability than he did.

Info: Rufus Porter entered in 1990 with two back-to-back Pro Bowl caliber seasons. However 1990 ended up not being that type of year. Whether it was because of the injury shakeups around him that altered his playing style, or just the weight of the Seahawks defense on his shoulders, Rufus Porter did not produce as expected. Granted he still had an 83 tackle 2 sack year where he also led the team in Fumbles Recovered and showed a great ability to cover the pass with 12 deflections. Not to mention his single interception, and one of those fumble recoveries were brought back for key touchdowns. However that being said, tackle wise, rush wise, and intangibly Porter seemingly had a mediocre year that was not something a Pro Bowl caliber linebacker would put up, but rather just an average player, and fans don�t think that Porter is simply average.

Review: The Seattle Seahawks had a solid 1990 season that saw them finish 9-7 and sneak into a wild card playoff spot. Seattle would then take down Tampa Bay in a shootout round but falter against the eventual Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisonal round. The Seahawks really showed that they came to play in 1990, especially their outstanding passing game. Dave Kreig lit up defenses around the league with his star wide receiver, Brian Blades, and even secondary man, Tommy Kane. Between Blades and Kane, they accounted for 23 of Krieg�s 27 passing touchdowns. The Seahawks also had some young rookies contribute greatly during the year, such as rookie half-back Chris Warren taking over for John L. Williams mid-way through the year, and young defensive stars like Patrick Hunter pulling it together. However injuries to a few key defensive players, namely in the linebacker section, led to some tough losses that could�ve easily been avoided. However under the mentor of the one of the greatest coaches to coach the game, Chuck Knox, there�s no doubt that next season the Seahawks will be right back in the thick of things come January.
