Grammy stuff:
1) Someone please explain to me the difference between "Song of the Year," and "Record of the Year." I've been wondering that one all my life.
2) And how did Daft Punk beat out both Lorde AND Robin Thicke for the latter? Those songs were everywhere, all day every day. Still, props to Daft for having better uniforms than what was worn in the Pro-Bowl.
3) How was Lorde NOT nominated for Best New Artist? Did I miss something? However, she does need some work on her stage show. That was a bit odd and strangely uneventful. And she looks like she's twice as old as she is like she's had a hard life.
4) Kendrick Lamar's performance, with the great assist from Imagine Dragons, was by far the best of the night. Though I definitely enjoyed Beyonce's lap dance to America. Might have been slightly better if she had a pole. Guess she didn't spot Katy Perry before the show. (Perry was good too, though)
5) Speaking of Kendrick Lamar, shouldn't his album have been nominated last year?
6) Steven Tyler and Smokey Robinson are both great, but they looked like a couple.
7) Taylor Swift should not dance in public.
8) Amidst all the hoopla surrounding the mass "wedding" presided over by Queen Latifah at the end of Macklemore's performance, am I the only one disappointed she didn't use the occasion to officially come out? Was Madonna walking with a cane?
9) I've seen Pink do the whole acrobat, lifting dudes thing before but it's still amazing that she can sing while doing it.
10) They could have cut 20 minutes off the show if they didn't actually have introductions for the people there just to give introductions.Comment

im about 45 mins into wolf of wallstreet and feeling very disappointed. nothing about this movie is great. its a decent movie at best. the characters dont grab you, the story doesnt grab you and leo playing this jordan dbag doesnt make you compelled to want to watch the movie. this guy doesnt have a badass gordon gecko feel of any kind. i dont even know if i want to waste the time to finish watching itComment

i watched more last night and have maybe 10 minutes to go..but wow, what a bad movie. its more of a comedy with bad drama mixed in. its not a terrible movie, but with all the hype surrounding it, i think ranks right up there with movies like the talented mr ripley for biggest let down of all time.
how many times is scorsese going to try to re create goodfellas? everything about the directing in this movie is just like goodfellas...and casino, and the departed...trying to remake a classic with bad stories and bad characters. Leo seems to be playing the role well i guess, i mean, if he is going for billionaire douchebag who is a complete and utter moron, then he suceeded. Obviously the real life Belfort is a dbag, but his story is completely lame and so is this movie.Comment

Also, there was Mean Streets before Goodfellas.Comment

what a terrible comparison by using a movie catagory to describe hitchcocks directing. Yeah, he made suspense thrillers, but that doesnt mean they are all the same idiot. Scorsese movies are all the same because he directs them the same way. that same narrative and stylized drama where he tries to make Jordon Belfort into Henry Hill. Belfort isnt a gangster but that didnt stop Martin from portraying him as one. he got away with it in Casino because that was a gangster film too. But what the departed was lacking in story and directing was made up for by phenomenal acting.
its not style to be unoriginal. its just lazy.Comment

Good grief it's like you're trying to be wrong on every point.
Notice how easy it is for them to flip right through his movies while talking about the same techniques. But I guess that equals...laziness?Comment

god you are such a moron. i am refering to the movies i mentioned, not the movies you throw in after the fact to make your point sound valid.Comment
