They should just do a Superman movie where Doomsday is the main villain. Fuck General fuckface.

How the fuck do you ever begin to tell an interesting story with that cluster fuck of a character?
Kevin Spacey did a good job of bringing charisma to Lex.

Supes' Rogue Gallery is very weak...his character can be very deep...but the stories told never go beyond shallow. Real life Superman = Dr Manhattan ... its a great character study when done correctly. Its just never really been done in any medium yet.

The most intetesting piece on Supes took place in Kill Bill...let that sink in.

I know plenty of adults who still don't know this plus a few who only figured it out after seeing "Superman Returns."

The big difference I notice between the way Marvel has done their films and Christopher Nolan has done the DC films is Marvel is making more of an effort to bring comic books to life on screen while Nolan is putting more of an emphasis on creating stand alone films that don't require any prior knowledge of the characters
I agree there's a difference to the films, but that's not it. It's just that they're built as part of a single universe whereas the Dark Knight trilogy has nothing to do with any of the other DC movies that have come out. Of the Marvel flicks, only the Spiderman movies stand apart (not counting "The Punisher" since Marvel didn't have as much to do with those movies). All of the individual character Marvel movies since the first "Iron Man" do the same thing Nolan did and tell an origin story that requires no prior knowledge of the character. "The Avengers," required knowledge of the prior films but not necessarily of their source material.

Also, the Dark Knight flicks make a concerted effort to make the world around its hero as realistic as possible.

Also, didn't they say there is no kryptonite in this movie?
Bingo. Supes power is a big issue. With only one way for most to stop him, most stories degenerate into some use of kryptonite. Of course, with Gen. Zod in this movie, there is no need for it. Don't think for a second that if they make Lex the baddie in a future movie there won't be some kryptonite involved.

Actually, I fully agree. I thought he was great in "Superman Returns." That movie has 99 problems but KS ain't one.

Need to get Darkseid in here so we can send Supes to Apokolips for some real battles

A quick thought on it is that its not a great movie. Its a really good movie but its a little messy at times. They captured the character of Superman so fucking good but everything around him felt a little off at times. I think its a step in the right direction and this is solid groundwork for DC movies after the ending of the Dark Knight Trilogy, but its going to be really hard for them to manage to work some other DC characters into this universe that they built in man of Steel since that's their intended goal. Its got a ton of action that works most of the time. Some of the characters feel a little overused, but the important part is that they made Superman feel real. My biggest concern was his flying abilities and his lightning quick movements but they pulled it off. Overall its a good film that fanboys will eat up because they get a taste of Superman but if you can look past that, it still has some faults it can fix in future installments. If DC winds up failing in the future, it wont be because fo Man of Steel.

Thanks for the review Buzzman! Sounds like what I expected, and what seems true of most Snyder movies. Overall, very good, but something feels a bit lacking

I will say that I was truly and 100% shocked that Zack Snyder wound up using absolutely zero slow motion. I thought for sure he was going to do his usual thing, especially with Superman.

No. There are no teases to future installments except a few LexCorp logos and a Wayne Enterprise logo on a satellite in space. Also no post credit scene.
