So tonight with Rodrik Cassel seemed like the most significant departure from the books thus far for me. Overall I don't think that it's a big deal, but it was super different.

I havent watched tonights episodes yet, but i find it odd that the Reeds arent in the season at all (so far). Im guessing they aren't going to be either since they've already started the Bran 3 eyed raven storyline.

I remember reading the cast list for the upcoming season and didnt see them mentioned anywhere. I was interested to see their portrayal of Jojen at the very least.

pretty sure that they are gonna use natalie tena as the guide in lieu of the reeds...

at least until (do not read unless youve gotten to book 4):

they will meet coldhands and thats when i think they will finally split off rickon and tena's character to go to w/e they go

Don't think we are getting the Reeds, unfortunately.

Man they've really been having some killer openers lately.

best show on television...even with the recent liberties taken on the Theon story.

                        Book 2 spoiler

Really dislike how they appear to be doing the Bran and Rickon storyline. I liked how in the book you heard about their deaths through Tyrion and Catelyn, so its completely shocking. But then in the last chapter you find out that they're still alive, and it's great.

It appears that they're letting the audience know that they're still alive the whole time via that scene wish Osha and the guard. I really thought the way the book did it would translate well on screen to fuck with people's emotions.

They're taken on pretty much every story, really.

I recall watching first season, then reading the book. I felt as if almost nothing was missing.

This season, I have read the book first and feel as if half the story is missing.

Yep. Though to be fair the first book was the smallest in scope and was more readily adaptable. The second book is so sprawling, both in location and theme, that it's hard to do a straight adaptation. There's really no central plot to Clash of Kings, so much of it focuses on exploring the meaning of power and how hard it is to define and maintain.

Atlas spoiled major plot points in the CB. Not cool.
