It was entertaining enough, Michael Shannon really suited the role. My only complaint is that it felt rushed.Comment

The Worlds End on Thursday night. AMC played the whole trilogy, which ruled. Got a free shirt that has all the pubs on the back, and the map of them on the front.
If you like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, you will automatically like TWE. If you don't like Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz, you will automatically like TWE.Comment

Now You See Me - You gotta completely turn your brain off for this one. Even then...ehhhhh.
Drinking Buddies - R.I.P. to Jake Johnson's career...he will be thrown into the purgatory of "romantic comedy nice guy" type-cast for the rest of his career. With that said, I enjoyed the flick. I've got myself a "Kate" in my life, so, totally relate-able.Comment

Olympus Has Fallen - **1/2 stars
Die Hard in the White House.
Not a bad popcorn flick if you don't mind soulless action fare that offers big-time explosions and collateral damage but no "real" stakes other than [insert terrorist threat that must be thwarted here].
I blame the lack of permanence when it came to killing off the President's staff after a few minutes before, the Korean commando unit turned everyone that could handle a sidearm into hamburger meat.
The Staff are basically there to hand over the launch codes (there's 6-7 of them, only THREE have the codes and the rest are future corpses-in-waiting) and hold titles but not much else.
Since the movie's based on Leonidas kicking the shit out of terrorists and not on the previous exploits of a fictional set of government officials, I didn't care when they exploded into a billion bloody atoms late in the film.
If this was set in the 80s, they'd get Chuck...
...to fix it.
If this were the 90s, they'd get Segal...
And since Hollywood's creatively bankrupt, we got to see this as well:
Olympus Has Fallen is the best of the bunch.Comment

Sound of My Voice
The thing that made me mad about this was that it never went into detail about anything so it was hard to care about the ending. I can interpret it as Maggie telling the truth or Maggie lying and either way I have no idea what her plan was going forward. Both interpretations leads you into a brick wall.
Don't know why they left so much stuff out, this is one of the few times I've ever wanted a movie to be longer.Last edited by Houston; 08-27-2013, 10:55 PM.Comment

Just seeing this, so I'll expand. I just found it to be below standard for LD, that's all. Plot was kinda thin and never quite paid itself off at the end, and the whole hidden identity bit was unbelievable to me. Other than some decent one liners and riffs from famous actors who I like, it didn't really have the same quality as Curb IMO.Comment
